abbygal

abbygal,

Welcome to the group, I am sorry to hear that your Chihuahua is having so many problems. I have had chis for over 18 years and I have never heard of "water on the brain" being a problem for them. I have heard of knee and hip dislocation and deformities.

But that doesn’t mean anything, I just learned a few months ago by my Vet taken the time to explain to us. That any blue dog has more risk of skin conditions and the purer the blue line the more problems. I didn’t know and had bred a blue and Tan with a silver and cream. They had a litter of two a female with no problems and a male who ended up with an angry looking rash on his head.

Of course we took him in to see the vet and that was when we found out that blues are more at risk to skin conditions. We still have Manly (the boy pup) he is four months old all healed and a runt like his daddy. He is just pure mischief. He has just learned how to jump in my bed, He so proud of his self.

Her new owners live about 10 blocks away and her new momma has promise my husband that she will bring her visiting. I do have to tell that since we have been selling Chihuahua puppies (which was my husband idea) that my husband for the first time has expressed regrets at selling a pup and said “I want to keep this baby, she is so smart”

still surprised

Even as long as we have been raising Chihuahuas I am still surprised at how smart they can be. As I was sitting on the sofa this morning (on the other side of Butterballs box) my husband said, “Look at this”. He then held his hand over her box and said to her, “Butterball give me your feet” she wiggle and squirmed happily then sat on her butt and put both front paws in to his hand. It was so cute.

We teach our babies simple tricks, but this surprise me. Butterball is the youngest I have ever seen one follow instructions. What a smart baby she is

Her Momma Mia is the one I have been having fun with. I notice that when I took Butterball away from her box she would scold me in her whining-talk. I couldn’t resist… a happy dance while I sang my baby my baby was all it took. Mia jumped from the box on to my husband lap where she scolded me loudly. Every time I would say it was my baby she verbal complained. What a hoot.

I asked her are you trying to tell me that she is Daddy baby…I swear it sounded like she whined out…Yesssssss. lol I gave Butterball to dad and Mia was again happy and content.

Baby Butterball

Baby Butterball new owner came to place their claim on her. They brought their male who is a beautiful, very spoiled, untrained, rotten little thing.

I am with out a doubt honest even when it may not be to my benefit to be so. I came right out and told them, your male is a strong alpha and is not recognizing you and the pack leader. You need to train him or a new pup will learn his negative behavior and behave negatively also.

This could have been enough to make some people angry but these folks knew I was right and asked for advice instead.

I show them a few basic; they were impressed in how well their baby decided to behave for me when I show him I was the alpha. Chihuahua are so intelligent in their minds some one has to be boss. And if their humans do not take the role they will.

Then they decided that they wanted one of my grown girls.
One already trained. I had to inform I couldn’t bare to part with any, and it wouldn’t matter how well train a new dog was is they didn’t learn to control the one the have any new dog would pick up his negative behaviors. And behave in a similar fashion. That is was normal for the pack to follow the lead dog behavior.

In the long run it was agreed that they would work on training their baby and made claim to Butterball. I pray they do keep their word and train their baby. It might be cute to have an extremely spoiled rotten Chihuahua but as I told them, they will find having two that they will think of thing to do that they never dream of and it will stop being cute.

dog food and baby butterball

I am worried too, we feed our Old Roy dry dog food which is not on the recall list, but Old Roy’s can and pouches are on the recall list.

Here on the news they have been saying that people can feed their pet’s tuna or chicken if they are afraid of the bad pet food. I have added chicken and turkey to their diet but as you wrote chibabiesmom that doesn’t meet their diet requirements. We haven’t taken away the dry food, but I want too, the though of losing my babies terrify me.

We keep checking the list and my husband insist that the food is fine. But I am not so sure. I have heard and read that many time the animals don’t appear sick until it was too late. So I have been cooking for them, as long as I feed them meats they do not touch the dry food. My husband said I am spoiling them. Maybe…Maybe not.

I have a turkey in the refrigerator about thawed out so it’s Turkey tomorrow.

On the lighter side

Where I have been fixing the babies extra my husband (You know, the man who said I am spoiling them) has been pinching off little tiny bits and feeding them to baby Butterball. She is only four week old today. He has spoil this little one so much that today when we were eating she was running around in her box squeaking until he gave her some too.

Now who is one spoiling babies? LOL

Butterball is adorable, he can lay his hand in the box and she will wall right up on it. She is pleasant and sweet with me but she will not walk up in my hand like she dose his. She is developing faster then normal her behavior is more like a five or six week old pup. I guess she is thriving on all that attention he gives her. What a little treasure she is.

pictures

Hey everyone,

I finally got the rest of my sons pack pictures. Even though they were not pleased with grandma’s flashy thing…lol Wayne is my oldest son.

Jasper is his alpha female she weighs just below six pounds. Amber is just below three. Look at there size differences. Amber is his little princess. There is no place she like better then her daddies lap.

Rusty is Ambers and my stud dog Smokey pup from her first breeding. Rusty is a beauty like Smoke his fur is almost peach fuss. He weighs in just under four pounds When he matures mentally Wayne plans on using Rusty as his stud male and retiring his stud dog Silver. Silver is going to be a trucker dog. He loves riding.

He didn’t realize Amber was coming in heat the last time and she bred with Silver his stud dog that is a six pound male. (Bad Breeder) We were all concern there would be problem because of Silver breeding with her and sure enough she had the pups a week early with the last two needed a c-section to be delivered. Sadly she lost all four pups. He loves her so he had her fix when they did the c-section. He didn’t want to risk her breeding again. She is just too tiny. She has healed up beautifully and with Lily allowing her to nanny her pups she is as bright and playful as she always has been.

The pups are Lily and Silver, the little female is remarkable smaller then the male. They are both so beautiful. I love the Black and Tan’s and have to admit I am very fond of the little female.
