Let's do this good thing together!
Size two? Who needs it! I would be happy just getting my booty back into those jeans that have been hanging in the back of my closet since the Carter administration. And I realize that being smart is the only way I will ever do it.
Fad diets and quick fixes just break things in the long run. Intake and output are what got us here, and they'll be what get us back where we belong.
So, no grapefruit fasts. No colon cleanses. No cabbage soup (everybody together, now: WHEW). Just mindfulness and moderation, tremendous honesty, and the support of good friends who share the same challenges and the same high hopes that we do.
PLEASE consult with your physician first, before embarking on ANY new diet or exercise program. Your doctor should always be the final authority, no matter how good the advice you receive online sounds.
We welcome your recipes, success stories, suggestions, and discoveries. In the interest of respecting the copyrights of others, we do request that you link to material you didn't write yourselves, rather than cut and paste. And, needless to say, if you're a spammer or a snake-oil salesman, turn around now, because you won't last a second longer than it takes for me to discover you in my group.
Enough said. Let's make this fun!

I'm looking for a pat on the back!
Hey, we all need one now and then. I was feeling sorry for myself tonight and had just about talked myself out of going for a walk. I didn't feel good. I'm having bladder problems and have to get a bunch of tests done. I'm depressed (since my hubby died in June, depressed is my natural state), I didn't sleep very much last night, etc. So, I'm laying on the couch, deciding to just skip it today. Even as I was making that decision, I got up, put on my walking shoes, and took my dog out for a brisk 30 minute walk. For me, that was a real win!
I accidently posted this to SlimPickens, so you might see this twice.

Rebounding (Mini Trampoline)
Hi, Do any of you use a rebounder? I just bought one the other day and I'm having so much fun with it. This information came with it and here's a list of the fantastic benefits. If your exercise program needs a jolt - this will really do it.
Benefits of Rebounding:
Provides an increased G-force (gravitational load), which strengthens the musculoskeletal systems.
Protects the joints from the chronic fatigue and impact delivered by exercising on hard surfaces.
Helps manage body composition and improves muscle-to-fat ratio.
Aids lymphatic circulation by stimulating the millions of one-way valves in the lymphatic system.
Circulates more oxygen to the tissues.
Establishes a better equilibrium between the oxygen required by the tissues and the oxygen made available.
Increases capacity for respiration.
Tends to reduce the height to which the arterial pressures rise during exertion.
Lessens the time during which blood pressure remains abnormal after severe activity.
Assists in the rehabilitation of a heart problem.
Increases the functional activity of the red bone marrow in the production of red blood cells.
Improves resting metabolic rate so that more calories are burned for hours after exercise.
Causes muscles to perform work in moving fluids through the body to lighten the heart's load.
Decreases the volume of blood pooling in the veins of the cardiovascular system preventing chronic edema .
Encourages collateral circulation by increasing the capillary count in the muscles and decreasing the distance between the capillaries and the target cells.
Strengthens the heart and other muscles in the body so that they work more efficiently.
Allows the resting heart to beat less often.
Lowers circulating cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
Lowers low-density lipoprotein (bad) in the blood and increases high-density lipoprotein (good) holding off the incidence of coronary artery disease
Promotes tissue repair.
Rebounding for longer than 20 minutes at a moderate intensity increases the mitochondria count within the muscle cells, essential for endurance.
Adds to the alkaline reserve of the body, which may be of significance in an emergency requiring prolonged effort.
Improves coordination between the propreoceptors in the joints, the transmission of nerve impulses to and from the brain, transmission of nerve impulses and responsiveness of the muscle fibers.
Improves the brain’s responsiveness to the vestibular apparatus within the inner ear, thus improving balance.
Offers relief from neck and back pains, headaches and other pain caused by lack of exercise.
Enhances digestion and elimination processes.
Allows for deeper and easier relaxation and sleep.
Results in better mental performance, with keener learning processes.
Curtails fatigue and menstrual discomfort for women.
Minimizes the number of colds, allergies, digestive disturbances, and abdominal problems.
Tends to slow down atrophy in the aging process.
Rebounding is an effective modality by which the user gains a sense of control and an improved self image.
Rebounding is enjoyable!
