My Last Blog Entry
Farewell, Eons birders! I wish you all the best, birding-wise and otherwise. For my last blog entry I wrote about what matters most to me: What we can do for the birds.
In it I list what I feel are the top few most important, essential things that every birdwatcher can do to support our precious wild birds. Please check it out: view link
Thank you all for a wonderful 2+ years!
Peace & good birding,
Scott Cronenweth

Great Backyard Bird Count
Just wanted to encourage everyone to spend some time this weekend participating in this year's Great Backyard Bird Count. All you have to do is count birds for at least 15 minutes on one or more days of the count, February 13–16, 2009. You can count for longer than that if you wish!
Count birds in as many places and on as many days as you like—one day, two days, or all four days. Submit a separate checklist for each new day. You can also submit more than one checklist per day if you count in other locations on that day.
You can find more information and sign up here:

Eagle Fans
I just ran across a web site that has an eagle web cam of a nesting bald eagle. She's sitting on 3 eggs. You can check it out at www.suttoncenter.org/eaglecam.html. I hope you enjoy......

In-Flight Refueling
This was the first brood of Mountain Bluebirds in the old house made from scrap wood. I have since replaced this with a new cedar house, and the same pair came back for a second brood last summer in the new one. I am happy to be able to provide them with housing, since their natural nesting sites are disappearing
Painted Buntings
We had three pair of lovely Painted Buntings this year but they arrived in April and left in August. That is much too short of time to observe this most beautiful of birds. We have had many days of rain the last 45 days so my birds seem to be hiding out in the woods. It has been almost impossible to keep their feeders filled with fresh and dry food.
