a disturbed bird
We have a very angry cardinal at our house. The last few days he has been attacking his image in the pick-up windows. He hits the back window repeatedly, then the side window, the side mirror and finally hitting the windshield. He rests perodically and then the onslaught begins again. Is this natural or has he devoured some fermemted berries? Do I need to find a good bird whisperer?
Painted Buntings
We had three pair of lovely Painted Buntings this year but they arrived in April and left in August. That is much too short of time to observe this most beautiful of birds. We have had many days of rain the last 45 days so my birds seem to be hiding out in the woods. It has been almost impossible to keep their feeders filled with fresh and dry food.
birds in Central Texas
Hello to all in this group. I have been living here in Central Texas for nearly 5 years and have put out six feeders. There are several species that stay here the year around and many migrating species too. My favorites are the Painted Buntings which arrive the last of April and stay until Sept. I am keeping a diary of their habits and goings and comings. I have tried to find a close by bird watching group but have not been successful. We live in the country and right on a creek so that is a big drawing card for birds of many sizes and kinds. I may walk out and see A great Blue Heron or a Snowy Egret feeding in the creek most anytime. To watch those two large graceful birds take flight is awesome. I hope to learn about birds from different parts of the country from this group. Regards, Helen
