Nuthatch

We have several of these coming to the feeder and they have become trusting enough of me that I can set up my tripod within 10 ft of the feeder to get get shots of them & the other birds. They are such clowns!

CA Hummers

here in NE PA we have seen our last hummer a few weeks ago ... but

Ustream offers a bird cam of a Channel Island Allen hummer in CA view link right now she is sitting on 2 eggs 1 just laid today. I believe this is her 6th brood this year & probably more to come. This website is so very addicting to watch especially after the eggs hatch. Enjoy

Steller Jay looking proud

Same place, Cabin lake, this guy never did come in to the water while we were there, but he was close enough for the camera to get some stunning shots.

Hummingbirds going back home?

I haven't seen our summer hummingbirds at our feeder for a few days. Looks like they may have moved on. I'm in the south Jersey area near the Delaware Bay. Has anyone else in this area seen their farewell?

Southern Wildlife Festival...

Today I attended the show here in Decatur. Great art, great photography and great educational display on Great Horned Owl & Red-tailed Hawk. Thought you might enjoy. It is going on tomorrow.

Laura Erickson

I just discovered this lady on a podcast thru ITunes. Her podcast is free and it comprises short dissertations on all kinds of bird topics. I enjoyed each and every one of them. Hope she continues.
Anyone else heard of her.?

Trained birds?

When I go out to my backyard, the squirrels and birds seem to come out and communicate with each other. They wait to see if I'm putting seed in the feeders - even if that's not what I'm doing in the yard. If I am filling the feeders, they're at the feeders before I'm back in the house. I have a squirrel that comes running down a tree and comes to about a foot away from me because he knows I throw some seeds on the ground for him (or her). Does anyone else have their birds waiting for them?
