A Couple Books
I just read a couple best sellers, the Third Jesus and The End of Faith. It is enlightening to read learned thinking but it helps to have a spiritual base before doing so.
One ascribes to the third dimension of humanity, the Holy Spirit in the case of Jesus, and the other equating religion with faith and in so doing, rightly suggesting the danger of religion as it is presently being dogmatized, as a real and persistant threat to peace in the world.
Regardless of one thinks about such writings, they have definate value by placing you and me together in a room as having read these and developing mutual thought about them. Or maybe such thought has no value. Faith certainly has no scientific proof so Sam Harris is probably never going to recognize his spirit no matter how many Ph.d's he earns especially in neouroscience. Greetings and happy reading to all.
Easter Bunny
A plausable story of the Easter bunny: The first full moon after the Vernal Equinox was celebrated for centuries before Christ as the festival of Eostre, the teutonic goddess of dawn and spring. Eostre's symbols were the rabbit and the egg, both representing fertility and re-birth. It is from the goddess's name that Christians in Germany and England took "Easter" as the name of the feast that would celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. So goes the story and historically it sounds good sort of like St. Nick for Christmas. Happy Easter all!
Immortality II
An essay of Mandalamind five days ago of immortality did not have a reply. Amazing because that one essay had as much to say as Eckhart Tolle says in his whole book A NewEarth and it gets lots ofdiscussion.
The awareness of the spiritual dimension within us can result in A New Earth if the spirit is nurtured with 'good'How can the soul be nurtured if it is not even recognized?
Disposing of ego will go a long way toward this as Tolle wrote. I wonder why yourt post didn't get replies. It certainly should have had interest.
under 13
I am surprised to learn of the new eon terms concernining youth. They talk a different lanquage and usually not favorable to the serene soul.It would be well however if they would accept the information on our bsadult and converse intellegently about the spirit, etc. At 13 I would have not understood although developing as always in the spirit. Since I am only in this group, I'd be willing to give them a chance but I doubt they will be interested. As to other groups in eons, I don"t have a clue.
When first exploring groups I viewed a number and they were not civilized as far as public expression goes. The f.. word and similar talk turned me off and eons with the over 49 policy really seperated it from the trash. Not that we should be any different or better but obviously we are and if the trash creeps into sbadult this opportunity will be lost.

Taiwan
What happens to these messages?
The taiwan Independent party has been dimished by thepeoples preference for the Nationalist rule of the Chinese. What is the U.S going to say? they were dedicated to support of Taiwan.
I lost my spiritual justification from Everyday Grace but just take my word for it. " the horrors of the world we live in today arise from spiritual ignorance" Lets hope this is one horror less to be concerned about!

Everyday Grace
The following quotaions are excerps from the book Everyday Grace by Marianne Williamson 2002. They really fit our thoughts well.
pg17 We are living at a time when our technological power has so vastly outdistanced our spiritual progress that we are threatened by the prospect of global catastrophe.
pg18 In the midst of war, we can quietly and powerfully know that peace is our natural state.
p21 He(God) cannot do for us what He cannot do through us.
p24 Spiritual principle addresses the true cause of every problem, because every problem is in essence a spiritual crisis.
p46 Because all minds are joined, deep peace cultivated anywhere is a blessing on people everywhere.
p46 ...divine compassion__...__is the next step in humanity's evolutionary journey. It is the only step that will enable us to survive the storm of hatred raging around the world.
His kingdom, He said is not of this world. And neither is ours.
p49 Martin Luther King,Jr."The moral arc of the universe is long, but it tends toward justice" (my note: a beginning is necessary no matter how long it takes)
p.50 Love is literally the power of God alive on earth.
p.194 The most significant develop[ment of the twenty-first century will be the harnessing of the social potential of love!
p.207 The spirit needs constant care and nourishment just like the body.
p.207 In this country. we're very good about praying once tradgedy has struck. But if we prayed together more often, so much tradgedy might not occur!
p.248 Peace is more than the absence of war; it's the presence of peace, a positive state of being that is predicated on brotherhood and justice and love. In it's presence, injustice and hatred have little power to grow. This is why knowing the truth of our spiritual oneness and embracing it within our hearts is the ultimate answer to all problems of the world.
p.249 The horrors of the world we live in today arise from spiritual ignorance.( and I would say unawareness)
p.249 Spending extraordinary resources trying to protect ourselves from our fellow human beings rather than on efforts to build righteous relationships, is a backward model of human interaction. And the fact that we don't quite know how to turn our civilization from a war machine into a peace machine is not a reason not to try.
Sorry for the length but worth a look. Recommend reading. It's only 252 pages and an easy read.
A Great Day
I had the pleasure and honor of hearing Sister Joan Chittister,an activist for peace and human rights, this morning at the Chautauqua Institution Sunday Service.
In meeting her, I referred her to our group at Eons and also to thetwowolves to which believe it or not she referred to as basis for her subject of peace, except she substituted peace for good and war for evil. It amounts to about the same .
In a nutshell she referred to the Old Testament problems that we still recognize today and illustrated that to feed peace, one must approach the enemy without arms and with trust; and not feed them with armaments and hate.
A very timely message by a terrific person. She is also vice president of Spiritualprogressives headed by Rabbi Michael Lerner, author of the Left Hand of God.
Google the Chautauqua Institution if you are not familiar with it. Today was beautiful especially in the great open air amphatheatre . It sure lifts the spirit.
help Wanted
About three days ago there was a message 'A Discussion' by Labrys3 and at that time it was message No. 138. How can I find it ? Today No. 138 was something else. I was interested in a reply and when previewing it, it disappeared from my computer.
It related to whether people are born all the same or are some born with evil traits, etc. A wonderful subject and now its gone but where?
Thanks for any help!
And if there are mistakes they will be ,as I refuse to preview anything again!
Fear of God
A few days back I quoted a passage from Dr. Hinckley including a bible verse from Proverbs. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom". From comments, it is assumed that not all of you trembled in your boots. Frankly I was surprised that this is not universally interpreted as being obedient to God or you could suffer in some way. There are at least 30 similar references to fear of the Lord, most in the Old Testament and there are at least nine verses that say Fear not,for I am with Thee or a similar message
Christ taught of grace so we don't fear of mistakes and even sin if we ask forgiveness which is always available.
Before Christ fear was of more concern due to the heavy hand of God syndrome of most believers. Today we have gone to the other extreme of dismissing God in our actions and try it on our own.
The same God is with us and is the good that we possess if this could only be communicated to the world, peace would prevail. Let the Holy Spirit (God within us)guide us and we can forget fear
Let the Good Wolf win.
Nurturing the spirit
The following paragraph from page67 of Standing for Something by Gordon Hinckley emphasizes my passion for awareness of and nurturing the spirit:
"Each day we are made increasingly aware of the fact that life is more than science and mathematics, more than history and literature. There is need for another education, without which the substance of our secular learning may lead only to our destruction. I refer to the education of the heart, of the conscience, of the character, of the spirit --- those indefinable aspects of our personalities and characters that determine so certainly what we are and what we do in our relationships one with another. Let us not forget that 'the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom'(Proverbs 9:10), and that we are able to learn b oth by study and by faith in the Almighty. Indeed, the schooling of our spirits is as important as the schooling of our minds, if not more important."
It is my belief that action on this thought is necessary for any hope of peace anytime soon or in the future and it is also my belief that we are capable of objectively acting positively on this within the framework of our present educational systems.
May the Good Wolf win!
