KT,
Are these the pictures you got by using your scanner!!?? They are really good! Can see everything so clearly--colors look so clear also--really nice! Just can't believe these are from a scanner, if they are. Wow!
Always, Rita
PS
Love the jewelry, too!!! hehe! Very pretty! :)

Using beads with other materials

Being home sick (I've got a sinus infection) allowed me to watch some daytime TV and I caught 2 episodes of The Carol Duvall show on Friday. She had a guest, can't remember her name unfortunately, who made some pins using polymer clay (sp?) and seed beads. The clay was cut into shapes, a design marked out, then really tiny seed beads were imbedded into the clay. They were beautiful and unique, the guest's inspiration for the designs were American Indian patterns, and I wondered if anyone else has tried this or a similar technique? It looked like fun!

The only other thing I've done with beads is book marks and am getting ready to try my hand at book "thongs"- using thread instead of ribbon. I have tons of embroidery floss and am going to try using it. The book thong I received as a gift, which gave me the idea, was made from some kind of waxed heavy thread- anybody know why it is waxed? Does it have to be?

Hello Bead a holics!

Hi I have been beading for about 5 years now and just love the choices it gives you. I love color and creating. I have only taken two classes and just go from there and have found that after taking a basic class it is fairly easy to follow directions from books but I havent moved on too far past the first things I did, I have just enjoyed making changes in color , size etc. and just love doing it.

rookie jewelry :)

I tried to take pictures on a piece of black felt and I can see why they say taking pictures of jewlery is so difficult! Well, I'll post them anyways. The necklaces I made just because I had been wearing the focal pieces for years on leather cords and wanted to dress them up a little bit. You can't see the colors very well, but the bracelet is a chakra bracelet. And then the smaller earrings, etc--some of the earrings were put together for me by my friend, Lynnette, and some by Leah. Not much for me to do but choose the stones with the tiny earrings and such when you can't do the hand work and crimping. But--these were the first things we did. Oh, and the bookmarks, too--(we sold a lot of those!) Sorry for so many photos--and not the best ones at that.

Just starting out

Hi!
If you've discovered the fun of beading and making jewelry, I'd love to share tips and ideas.
I haven't been at it very long but sure enjoy it and have been able to make gifts for friends and family as well as dress up my own wardrobe.
I find it very relaxing and a great outlet for creativity.

And if you haven't tried it and are interested, I'd love to chat about that as well!

Looking forward to hearing from any fellow "beaders" out there.

Oona's bracelets

oona,
The pictures really show the detail of your bracelets. They look like they take a long time to make. Is it a lot faster on a loom? (You did say you made them on a loom, right? When you make a comment you can't see the others--hehe!) I don't think I've ever even seen a beading loom! I am learning things already!!
