I am a new member of this group and hope to both benefit from info on this site and also to share some of my past
experiences with natural healthcare.
I, personally, would NEVER go back to
allopathic medicine. I have greatly
benefited from homeopathy, chinese
medicine, accupuncture, allergy treatments using NAET, etc.
I just wish I could convince friends and family to do the same but to each his own.!

Ayurveda and Stroke Recovery

Thank you Dr for asking the questions. In 2001 I started researching Ayurveda and in fact visited the Chopra Center in 2001 and 2002. In 2003 I had a stroke affecting my right side. I have incorporated ayurveda, yoga, and meditation as part of my recovery and rehabilitation.

I have made great gains but there is more to go. Next week I will start aquatic therapy including watsu to build balance, coordination, and strength.

Besides traditional physical and occupational therapy I also have done adapted sports including canoeing, weight training, tennis, windsurfing, and sailing. I use music instruments and knitting to gave functioning in my hand, arm, and shoulder. I have had feldenkreis sessions and have worked for 2 years privately with pilates instructors.

Meditation, Recovery and Rest are important elements in making through this journey with grace.

I am thankful for knowing about Ayurveda through Deepak Chopra and for having an Ayurvedic physician, Jay Glaser.

I hope that more people will realize the strength behind these ancient learning.

Goethe said "A person hears only what they understand." I hope others will take time to understand.
