I live in Hampton, NH and I am coordinating a trip to Italy's Amalfi Coast.
It's a walking tour that includes a hike of Mt Versuvius. I am

Where do you want to go?
Well I was thinking yesterday about starting a group about like how this one sounds. I like to scuba dive, snorkel, swim, boat, kayak, and hike. Someday I would like to go to the Great Barrier Reef, but have other goals before that. I'm hoping I can find a like-minded group in the SF bay area to get together and kayak Monterey Bay. I would love to get together and play games like capture the flag, red rover, hide and go seek, bowling, croquet, badminton, and the like. Any ideas?

Active Travel is the Way to Go
Even though I still enjoy sitting on a beach, it's much more enjoyable after I've been doing something active. The best way to travel is outside of a motorized vehicle. You experience so much more when you're riding a bike or walking that you do in a car, bus or train. Plus, you aren't having to share the experience with 50 or more other people. I've been on biking and hiking trips with several outfits but most recently with a nice small company called Sojourn. I had a great experience in Arizona last spring and then in Ontario this summer. Two different kinds of trips but both provided great opportunities to visit places I'd never been and experience so much. Don't worry that you can't do trips like this - Sojourn and other reputable companies gear their trips to varied levels. Active travel is the only way to go!
Starting a like minded group in your area
A couple of suggestions to starting a travel or adventure group in your area. Post on craigslist under groups or start a meetup.com group in your area. Have a coffee or meet up in a wine bar or other venue. I know our public library has free meeting space. Promote your meeting on local bb and with singles groups. Lastly, get interesting speakers to speak to your group about adventure travel.
