Some new ones

I just posted four ACEOs that I haven't put on eBay yet. For some reason I ran out of steam doing the postings. Maybe this group will get me back to doing that. I would love to hear your comments.

Little Dory with copyright mark

This is an ACEO that I was able to put a copyright mark onto. I did it from a special character menu that is available on my Mac. I'm not sure how you might do it on a PC. Of course, the original does not have the mark. This is just for posting on websites.

Individual albums

How do you create the individual albums that I see on ACEO? Terry has one and Virginia has one. I don't see any way to create one. Are they created in your profile?

ACEO envelope

Here's a template I found for an ACEO envelope, if anyone is interested in selling them on eBay. I hope you can see it, it's kind of light. You can download it by dragging it to your desktop and opening it in a program like Photoshop. It's a JPG. It should print out just the right size to fit the cards. I put a print of the ACEO on the outside of it before I print it. You cut it out and glue it together. I use rubber cement, it cleans up easier.

Stuff I use

This works well if you are doing a little watercolor or even acrylic. I have a 9" X12" block of Arches watercolor paper, 140 lb. I divide it into 12, 3" X 4" rectangles, using a pencil. This way it gives me a little slobber room and I can leave the paper right on the block, making it easier to paint on and they don't buckle.

After I do one painting or several, I cut them off the block, leaving the rest of it on the block to do more later. It makes it easier to work on instead of trying to fiddle around with a tiny piece of paper. I have a small paper cutter and I trim them to the correct size when I'm done.

Don't forget to put your name or initials on the front of the card. I put all the info, handwritten, on the back. I put the title, the kind of paper, the kind of medium I used... I usually specify my Winsor Newton paints so people will know they are a good quality and won't fade, same with the paper. The 140 lb Arches is a good weight for those little cards, they are not flimsy. I also print my full name, the way I sign large paintings (Anne Trotter Hodge), my address, phone number and e-mail and the date it was made. Then down in the corner (still on the back) I sign it. Who knows, maybe someday I'll be famous and they'll become a collectible!

If you are working in pen or pencil, you can do the same thing on a piece of good heavy bristol board. When I do colored pencil ones, I specify that they were done with Prismacolor Pencils on Strathmore bristol.

When I sell them, I put the ACEO in the envelope with a print of the ACEO on it, an ATC card of a self-portrait with my bio on the back (no envelope) and a business card. I put everything in a larger envelope, with styrofoam board front and back and seal it really well with PO tape.

People seem to like all the little extras. I've had very good feedback on eBay selling these. I don't sell them for very much, maybe $2 to $5. Because they are in Auction, sometimes people will pay more. I do not include shipping. I add about $1.50 for shipping. But, last year I made $100 and $100 is $100. I can whip them out pretty quickly too.
