Welcome to ACEO

I'd like to extend a welcome to all of our new members, which includes each and every one of us! We are a growing and very interesting group here on Eons and I am looking forward to even more growth. I thank each one of you for your encouragement and inspiration. We seem to be gathering creative energy from each other and that's as it should be. Please welcome our latest new member Paulines. She's an wonderful artist and has had real experience with art cards.

ACEOs, Perfect for me

Part of the love I have for Artists Cards is collecting them, but what I enjoy the most is painting them. They are perfect for me in that way. Like the rest of you, I'm constantly busy with never enough creative time. As artists, we are naturally limited by the size of ACEOs in how long we can spend on one.
Artists always have ideas floating around in our heads waiting for time. Time to get our art supplies out, undisturbed time when we will be able to concentrate on our project and time to complete this wonderful concept we've been carrying around with us as we go about the rest of our lives.
This is where ACEOs are perfect. We can begin and complete our creative project in minutes, not days or weeks. For me it is something I enjoy and can feel good about, not a chore that I have to finish some day. I'm not very disciplined, so I have a huge stack of those, do you? I love taking some of these pictures I have in my head and putting them on paper. I love the feeling of completion I get with artists cards and knowing I can put my completed project at a small price into the hands of collectors who will enjoy them, too. I think many of these concepts I carry around with me in my head would make great or at least pretty good, full sheet or half sheet watercolors. I also know myself well enough to know that I will never paint them in those sizes. I have a lot of ideas and I enjoy turning them into paintings, very small paintings.

Eons search for ACEOs

If you notice in the upper right hand corner of the page you will find "Search Eons" where you can find about anything on Eons. However, if you search for ACEOs you won't find them from photos from our ACEO group unless you've used ACEO in the title. So...you might want to keep that in mind when you are putting in the title for your work. Instead of saying "Spring flowers" you might want to type "Spring Flowers ACEO" so it will be brought up in the search. You may also want to go back into your photos from your profile page and change the names of your ACEO to include the relevant information.

Posting ACEO Photos

Please post photos in albums or First Reply rather than in your message. For those of us who have high speed internet it's easy to forget that there are stilll lots of folks who are still on dial-up and posting pictures in the messges really causes problems for those members. And not everyone has the latest in high speed computers or fast ISP's.
So..all said, we need to post our photos in the Photo albums or in the First Reply. Whether we post in the group album or create an ablum of our own the photos added to it will show up on our ACEO home page at the bottom that day so the limit of 3 a day still applies to our own abums. It just makes easier to look them up by member without going through all the photos in the group album.

Collecting Original Art: ACEOs

ACEO's are a perfect way to collect original artwork. As collectors, we don't always have the space to put larger paintings or the money to buy larger works. Collecting Art Trading Cards is a pretty frugal way to amass a collection or original art. They are even cost effective when it comes to framing and they look wonderful when displayed in a grouping.
ACEOs are great. I like to look at them, hold them, own them and hang them on my walls even it's one that I've done myself, but especially when it's been created by another artist. I really enjoy having other artists paintings and have many of them on my walls. These are not all large works and certainly not always their best paintings, but they are real. The artist has touched it, thought about it, been personally involved with every decision it took to produce the piece and I can feel the creative energy in their artwork. I have never felt that way about a print.
ACEOs have allowed me to add to my meager collection of original art and I treasure each one I have. I have one wall in my home set aside for small format art. The largest piece I have in this group is a12x16, a few are 8x10 or so, but most are ACEOs, which fit in beautifully with these other small paintings and give some variety and interest because of their size.
I'm far from being the only one who enjoys these small artworks. There are many of us who are adding to our collections of original art by buying these small format pieces, collecting the works of our favorite artists and displaying them creatively. Art trading cards make it possible for many people to amass a collection of original artwork and we will enjoy the miniature pieces of art we have collected for years to come.

Anyone stopping by?

Is anyone still checking in here at ACEO? Do we need to reactivate this group? I'm still painting, but not ACEOs. I do miss this activity, however and I miss painting with watercolors, my activity on ebay and I miss the wonderful artists here. I need to get out my ACEO painting materials and have some fun!

atc's

aloha,

i didn't know there was an atc group on eons. i came across you guys by accident!! i was wondering if there was another creative group besides the knitting group. thank you for letting me join.
i tried to work on my atc's on a regular basis, however, creativity strikes when we least expect and as a result i am either knitting, making my cards, atc's or altering something. although i'm still finding my way around eons, i wouldn't mind getting involved in a few swaps.
hugs to you all,

Hey you guys!!

There has been so little activity in this group that I was about to drop it when I noticed we have a new member, spiritsong! Hello to you, spiritsong. Unfortunately, I have to tell you that the manager of this group is AWOL and there has been very little going on. However, if you want to ask a question or post a photo, go ahead. I will stop in from time to time and I hope the other members of the group might do so as well.
