I'm back!
I don't know how many of you knew, I was away having a left shoulder replacement. It was one called a "hemi" (like the the truck I guess). It meant that the doc didn't replace the socket, just the ball joint. I can actually type with two hands!
My shoulder is coming along very nicely. I got home last Friday and the Physical Therapist came Saturday to evaluate me. She was really surprised and pleased that I've come as far as I have. I can do quite a bit with my "fixed up" arm, much more than they expected only three weeks out of surgery. I still can't lift my arm very high without help, but that will come with exercise and therapy.
I see the doctor next Tuesday and no doubt she will expect more exercises out of me. Yesterday, I took a trip with a generous friend of mine down to see the audiologist. I wear a couple of hearing aids. I decided to get them a couple years ago before people started saying, "I WISH she would get a hearing aid!" Some idiot aide in the rehab decided to "help" me put a battery in one of them and ripped the cover of it right off. Fortunately, no damage was done, the audiologist was able to clip a new one right on and it cost me a whole $5. After that we went grocery shopping while I whizzed around the store in a riding cart.
I look like the walking wounded with my sling and my cane. I don't wear the sling while at home but I thought I ought to while out and about. My friend, who is 82, took great care of me. That was my exciting day.
Anne
