A one dog fight
We all at one time have experienced it. Either by being the other dog or watched as and obvious bigger, better, smarter, equipped opponent just annihilated its adversary in what ever arena the confrontation exist.
........but we also have witness great deeds of relentless tenacity and a will to overcome...to survive.....
IN HONOR OF PEARL
In they came wave after wave,
each sailor trying, his ship to save.
Just like their flag they came at sunrise,
catching our boys totally by surprise.
In they came wave after wave,
Zekes, Vals and Cates, all carrying deadly fate.
By the time we knew, it was to late.
Mighty ships sinking to their grave.
In they came wave after wave
Bombs finding targets, something they crave.
The devastation was starting to a mass,
how much longer could this last.
In they came wave after wave,
our fighting men on this black Sunday
resisting where ever they could.
Why the attack, no one understood.
In they came wave after wave,
while the smoke clog the air,
and the bodies filled the water,
trying to finish an all out slaughter.
In they came wave after wave,
many injured, thousands lay dead.
It was explained by the man who led.

Of Kissing Balls and Missile Toes.......
There is a gas station down the road from me that is selling "Kissing Balls" and they have a big sign up saying so. Curious, I drove by and saw that they had these things hanging up for sale. They consist of a ball of fir branches surrounding or incorporating a bunch of Misteltoe, that is hung by a festive ribbon by the purchaser - most likely in a doorway. I though to myself that maybe they could have thought of a better name for them. Not to be prudish but I conjure up a whole different idea when I use the term and even though it may sell lots more "balls" - I won't be buying one. Which leads me to the Misteltoe thing - a married friend of mine calls his wife "Missile Toes", because she has this bad habit of sticking her toes behind his knees at night for warmth and sometimes her toenails are not well manicured! Or is that pedicured? Whatever. There are just too many things with double meanings, is my lament. Or maybe it's to my enjoyment? Anyone have any others? Or maybe a funny holiday story or two for a wintery Sunday morning?
Breakfast
I woke up this morning
With you on my mind
I looked all around
Nothing else could I find
You all alone
Is what I found in my view
That is just what I wanted
Though I am sure you knew
You are my breakfast
On my toast you’re the jam
On my plate next to eggs
you are the ham
To soften it’s bitter
In my coffee your cream
You are the sweet things in life
Can you see what I mean
For that first soft caress
Each morning I long
and through out each day
It keeps my love strong
That very first kiss
When I open my eyes
Is like at a carnival
I think I won a prize
Yes you are my breakfast
Best meal of the day
You fill me with such zeal
I can go out and play

Music
You're writing the music of your life. What would your music be?
Shine
I look around
What do I see
So many of you
Encourage me
You shine on me
like stars so bright
And on my words
with so much light
With illumination
This is grand
Your words are
Giving me a hand
In my ears
It really rings
This ovation
How it sings
I want you to know
I hear your call
And wish to thank you
one and all.

Morning Brakes
As this morning brakes so brightly
I do not take my life so lightly
What a gift to give me learning
It leaves my soul so brightly burning
All I receive from those around me
Opens my eyes I truly can see
The love this world has to give
Every thing for which I live
A seed not planted in the ground
Yet it keeps growing all around
It needs no dirt it grows inside us
I nurture it with little fuss
It is a flower that smells so sweet
And bears a fruit that is unique
It’s nectar is what we call love
A sweetness everyone dreams of.

A Loving Touch
A soft caress
A loving touch
A kiss so gentle
I long so much
To have you here
Upon my side
So in your arms
my soul can hide
To feel the rhythm
Of your heart
Somehow I know
We’ll never part
This cadence
I can not resist
This offered love
You now insist
Takes my love
To unknown heights
And comforts me
On lonely nights
