Actually this is what Scott McClellan really said on the Oreily show:
The truth is I messed up. I was specifically not trying to single anyone out, including you. But the way a couple of the questions were phrased in that interview along with my response left things open to interpretation and I should not have let that happen. ... I understand why you got upset. ... You're the Big Kahuna at Fox News, and some people tried to paint in a black and white term through a preconceived notion.
view linkHe did not make an admission of lieing about the original premise. Only that he was sorry that he included Bill Oriely.
The naysayers of Scott McClellan are the White House staffers that have been told to throw him under the bus.
And Astride Honey, your comparing apples and oranges. Like someone said in a previous post, Journalist are voters to and can back whomever they like. But the White House is legally bound not to conduct itself in this manner. First Amendment Freedom of the press. That would be a state controlled media like Pravda.( The Russian controlled media )
There are perceived facts and then there is the truth.
