Welcome to lovesgift and Colleen!

Hi Colleen and lovesgift,
we're just getting going in this group, and I'd like to make it a friendly, no flaming, no backstabbing group of people who like to talk about a healthy lifestyle and the environment.

Recently, I took to organic gardening again, but I only put in a few things to start....we had our summer squash, green onions, cilantro and lettuce come and go,,,now it's too hot for the leafy plants, but we have green beans growing like crazy and the peaches are ripening on our two trees.

Does anyone else do a bit of gardening? What's growing in your garden today?

Hello my friend, happy to be here.
No garden this year. We live in the country and our farm stand/store is right close by. Maybe it is something to think about for next year. My husband has allergies to soil so I would have to do most of the work myself.
We do a wonderful green thing by mowing with a Neutron electric mower...I love hubby not as much (mowing that is, he loves the mower itself) Up until now we have hired it out but they all use gas hog mowers.
Anyway, thanks for the invite.
I'll be here as much as I can be.

I live in an apartment complex, so unfortunately not much gardening going on here! Although we do have a few house plants/cacti out on the deck. A few men I work with though have been bringing in zucchini, zucchini and more zucchini! They also have an abundance of HOT peppers, a necessity down south, and WATERMELONS! That is, if the wild hogs don't get to them first!

Didn't do much in the veggie garden this year just kept up with the herbs that are growing like crazy. We've had tomato plants and pepper plants in the past and looks like next year we'll be doing that again. I hear you about those green beans though - once they take off watch out. Too bad we weren't closer, I'd help out with your extras. Don't have enough room for zucchini and such as they would extend into the next yard (not friendly neighbors). But we do buy from a local farm stand and his produce is simply marvelous.

Wouldn't it be great to have a fruit/vegetable exchange! I could give away peaches in exchange for some of the zucchini, mine are finished for the summer, as are the string beans and salad veggies.

Next year I plan a much bigger garden that will include more string beans, squash, potatoes, I'll try cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, onions, carrots and bell peppers. I'll be using either wooden tubs, or flower beds in wooden boxes to keep them off the ground (cats and doggie love to dig).

At least at this time of year I get to see my neighbors when I take my basket of peaches around to spread the good cheer!

How are you all this fine morning?
