The king of Procrastination

What makes one procrastinate?
Lately I have become the King of procrastination. Case in point: I recently purchased a new weed whacker ( last week ). It's been sitting in the box for 6 days and I finally assembled it today.
Now back in the day I would have fooled around with that bad boy before I even got out of the store parking lot. It would have been assembled before I got home and I would have been whacking away as soon as I stepped out of the car. Where has all the enthusiasm gone for the gadget guy?

I think "Charles 1950 was the Undisputed King of Procrastination" would look better in an obit than

"everyone marveled at the wonderful lawn edges that Charles1950 always had."

No jinx intended!!!!

Charles, when I saw the headline I thought you were going to talk about me. But since you didn't get around to it, you win.
But I do know what you mean. All my life I was a ball of fire, always doing and going, and if at the house always piddling around. Slowly, for the last few years I've started making excuses not to do things. Even to myself. There's always tomorrow.

well its not just the boys. I love going out and buying fabric to make quilts and books to inspire me.....but actually sewing. Well that can wait. I am the same with craft items, love to get a good selection, but to sit and actually make something......and dont even start on books. I buy but dont get around to reading. You know why dont you......its all your fault, I spend my time here with you fascinating people. Sigh

Charles - perhaps that rational part of your brain that sorts the fun stuff from the work stuff has finally realized that weed whacking is work. You have to stand there and manuever while the gadget chops it up, but it's not a robot. What you may really want at this stage of life are gadgets that pamper your senses (like a radio and and lawn chair) or ones that do the work completely without your direction.

Well..maybe that's just what I want...

Well, things do tend to become less urgent as we age - even whackers.

Well Charles ... the body was not as tired and the distractions might not have been so sedentary or fascinating back in the day. You have to admit .... your friends on Eons are interesting, very interesting.

I agree that things do seem to become less urgent as we get older, but I think you find the time for the things you want to do. The things that get put off are those things you should do, or someone else thinks you should do, or you only KINDA want to do it but you're not sure...
