I quit for the second time in my life just 3 short months ago.

The first time I quit was oh so long ago that I can't remember and I stayed off them for around 15 years then I was giving one because I asked.

Never ask. It was job stress at the time, and it started me up again and for the next 9-10 years I was a smoker again.

I have finally quit hopefully for the last time. I have wanted one on many occasions since but have not giving in to it. I usually get up from whatever I am doing and do something else, which has been working so far.

I am quitting cold turkey, just like before.

Katstatts, Good for you! One smoke is too many and 50 is never enough. I quit for three months once before and because I was hanging out with co-workers that smoked and asked them for "just one" == well, you know how THAT turned out. No way is there ever "just one". Hang out with us here and just take it one day at a time...it's the only way it can work. We're all here for each other, so come here and let us know how you are doing!

Welcome, Kat, and congrats for making the right decision... again.

You know now that one smoke turns a recovering addict into an addict all over again. I commend you on your effort to do this cold turkey... it's the hardest way to do it, and for those of us who are able to quit this way, the best way. I quit cold turkey almost seventeen months ago, and couldn't have succeeded any other way.

If you quit before for 15 years, I know you'll make this one stick.

Welcome aboard!

Good luck Kat. I'm trying to quit for the first time. I can't do the cold turkey thing though, I'm taking chantix.
Isn't it funny how there are so many programs for people addicted to alchol and drugs but not that many for people addicted to nicotine.

twizzle.our local Police department has a program, so you might want to look into that in your town.

Thank you all for your comments to me. Yes, cold Turkey is hard but for me the only way I can do it.

I am having an easier time of it this time than before and oh yes congratulations to everyone for trying.
