Help Me Stop An Emotional Eating Pattern

A great article to help one get in touch with emotional overeating. There is also a great interactive tool (Identify a Pattern and two others) at the bottom that can put you in touch with the whys of your overeating. view link

I think that probably applies to a lot of us, if not the majority. Hunger is generally not the need we're trying to fill for most of us when we reach for the food. And that's why I think journaling is so important... it helps us learn what our triggers are, and hopefully points us to more appropriate responses.

I figured out that watching most TV at nite when I am cooling down is a passive activity. I'm in an active mode most of the day. So the TV show has to involve or absorb me. Otherwise, the cravings are so ready to jump in.

I have s new TV and now can buy Netflex movies or documentaries. I had Netflex on my computer and watched documentaries or historical deals. But sitting at my computer wasn't the same.

I used to love to read esp.mysteries or biographies at nite, but it doesn't do anything for me any more. Have no interest to pick up books or have our library deliver them.

When all else fails, I go back and turn on computer to play computer games. Like to find ones that are new where I can download for free & play for an hr or so.

Then I'm tired. After taking meds, I might turn on NIGHTLINE on ABC. It's a great news program, but body is ready to fall asleep. I usually fall asleep during show or right after when a repeat of Oprah comes on.

This would be a great post in our WEIGHT LOSS AND NUTRITION. Would you like to post it there, or may I?

This is a gem.
