Twins Born - One Black, One White

Twins with different skin colors — one black and the other white — have been born in Berlin, Germany.

Doctors say it is an extremely rare occurrence, but it is possible if genes combine in a certain way.

The twin boys, named Ryan and Leo, are the offspring of a mixed-race couple.

The mother, Florence, hails from Ghana in western Africa, and dad, Stephan, is from Potsdam in Germany.

"Ryan came first, and everything was as usual," said the hospital's doctor, Birgit Weber. "But when Leo was born, I couldn't believe my eyes."

"Both kids have definitely the same father," the doctor added.

how is dad going to handle this? How do you raise twins with this situation. Glad they are not in America. The questions and comments would never end. This is quite a challenge to parenting.

What's so unusual about this? Mother is black; father is white. My gracious! What would you expect? I do believe that the "world" would more readily accept this if the twins were girls. People get real!

these are not the first set of black and white twins. back in the 80's in boston i remember a prostitute gave birth to set of twins one black one white with different fathers and conceived at two different times in the same night. then this sitcom or reality show Big Brother there is a mother with black and white twins living the house with this group, she i AA/black woman. this couple, she is from ghana, he from germany...at least we know per the media that he is the father of both children, received the genes from mom and dad . i think it is beautiful. so what is going to be their nationality, german and ghanian?. like TOOBAD said they are lucky they are not being raised in the US of A.

I went to school with twins that one looked black and the other looked white. The funny thing is that the white one hang put with the black kids, and the black one with the white kids.

So this is nothing new

They’ll have an easier time of it not being here in the US, but as long as the two of them love these kids and treat them the same they’ll be fine anywhere.
