Sitting on a hill in our yard with my Dad...
it's night time and the stars are bright...
Dad tells me a story about Peter Rabbit...

Sitting on my mothers lap and touching the tears on her face. I was less than 2, I can remember my own tiny hand patting her cheek. I think it must have been around the time my father died in a shooting accident, leaving my mother newly pregnant with my sister. I can remember her hair was in tight pin curls and that she was wearing a striped house dress. We were sitting together on a chair outside a little trailer house. I think its remained such a vivid memory because my mother was crying.

Sitting beside my Grandmother, (I am her namesake) and she was holding my hand. I knew later in life that she had suffered a stroke and wanted me to sit on the hassock beside her. I remeber wanting to move, but not moving as I knew she would be upset. She too had tears in her eyes. She must have passed on shortly after that as I remember my grandfather as a single man as I grew older.
My Aunt told me years later that I am the spitting image of my grandmother.

The night my father woke me and my sister up and took us to live with my mother. I think I was 5.

I was too young to be a crawler so I'm not sureof my age but my brother who was 8 at the time was bouncng me on my mothers bed. Each time he'd jump on all fours over me I would compeltely lift off of the bed. We were both laughing. Then the mattress came off of the frame just as my mother came into the room! I remember her yelling at my brother that he could have killed me and that he was supposed to just sit beside me on the bed while ahe waked the dogs. It's a great memory!
