Thanks for the "Heads up", I am going with my daughter this evening. She is doing the OKC screening of the movie. It is my birthday week so she is taking me along. I love musicals, as you say I have "West Side Story" and "7 Brides for 7 Brothers" in my music VHS collection. Also "Newsies", didn't realize I had so many musicals on hand. LOL
Saw it, I agree with the ear plugs for Pierce Bronson. He needed help, and got it from the backup singers, their was more of them in this than him, Thank goodness! Surprised Colin Firth sang so well, but no hiding that English accent. Seems like most English rock bands lose it, in song, he didn't.
I read in the LA times that the production of the play Mamma Mia has garnered its producers 5 Billion $$$$. The movie has already been released in Europe where it's a huge hit.....# 1 in all European cities. They expect it to do well in this country but can you believe 5 Billion$$$$$.? No wonder Abba retired.
You know how a song gets stuck in your head? Well, since seeing Mama Mia night before last, that song has been stuck in both mine and my daughters heads. I woke up singing it this morning.
Mama Mia- what a fun movie.
The ABBA songs worked well as a play. The play worked well as a movie. I love the songs. The cast obviously had fun and therefore so did the audience. We sang out into the parking lot and in the car home.
Merrol Streep(sp?) can sing. I remember her singing in Postcards From the Edge. I think she sang Heartbreak Hotel.
Now, I believe Bonnie Tyler songs should be used to create a fun play/movie.
What do the rest of you think?
i liked the play, but i'm not sure if i liked it enough to see the movie.
vinny must be tired of all his little men. did the famine finally get them all? (this is a reference to when vinny and i first met on eons 1 1/2 years ago now- remember, vinny?)
