For a person who expends a great deal of energy attending to her appearance, I have horrible nails. I usually cut them very, very short and try to forget they exist. I used to have fake nails, but I can't type well or play paino with them. My natural nails are weak so I don't bother growing or painting them. I could, however, use regular manicures.
I try and grow them but it seems they get to a certain length ..looking all good then one will break and they break to the quick because I used to be a biter... I do my own nails, prefer plums, pinks as nail color..
Every once in awhile I will have a manicure, if I want to treat myself..
I try to grow my own. They're really nice right now because I haven't been using my hands much for the past 6 weeks. But now since I'm pretty well healed up, the family expects me to get back to work around the house and there goes the nails.
I had artificial nails a couple or 3 times. I've had them done in nail salons and I've done the entire process myself (way more time consuming, but I like my results better). I just don't like spending the money every month for upkeep/maintenance.
Besides, it's difficult to play piano or type well with long nails as DeepBlueSea already said.
I don't keep them painted although I have severak bottles of polish just sitting around drying up.
I have a Manicure and a Pedicure once a month. in the summer i like pastels with sparkles, and i even like dark colors like purple, black, burgundy, navy blue. and my nails are not gel or acrilic. but in september i plan to get Gel.
which one wears better the acrilic or gel?

When I was in the work force I kept my nails immaculate...They have always been long and hard...Now I do them myself and occasionally go the the nail salon and have them done...I always keep them painted...
Does anyone know of a product that really works to strengthen nails? I've always been able to keep my nails as long as I wanted them without trying. Here lately they grow about 1/4 inch and one or more will break or tear. I'm getting frustrated with the cycle but don't know what to use.
