I am using Vista HP and Windows Live OneCare for security. I have to renew my subscription next month ($49.99/yr.). I have minimal problems with WLOC, but when I have, they have FREE 24 hr. tech support. Very strange for MS.
But $50 is $50(1/2 a tank of gas) and I'm wondering if I could get some advice or comparisons on some of free security systems I've seen on this fantastic site. Thanks

I can't tell you either way, whether to keep it or not, but to me, it's just one more thing to shell out to Microsoft and another way to tether yourself to them. But $50 a year isn't so bad if they give 24/7 help.

I used to use live onecare and it does what it is supposed to . If you shop around you can get it much cheaper than 50 per year . Since money is an issue to many . I use the free stuff now .

Free? Then what was the $50 bucks for? In the past I have found that shopping around usually I could find much better service and prices than MS.
In fact I can't think of a single instance where MS was a better investment.

I use 2 freebies: ZoneAlarm for a firewall and AVG for antivirus.

I'm using the free version of Trend Miceo's AVG and have had no problems with the software. When I did have problems with the previous version, their customer service desk answered within 24 with the CORRECT fix information.
