Lazy days of summer

It looks as if there might be a wee bit of relief from the heat here in the Dallas area today coming in the form of isolated thunder storms and a "cold" front, not that it will cause any outbreak of cool weather anywhere. Let's just say a "front" and not try to get anyone's hopes up.

What do the most of you like to do on Sundays, especially, in during our long, hot summers? I really try to avoid going outside for any length of time. The pool in the neighborhood isn't even refreshing. My silly husband insists that they heat the water. That always gives me a laugh. Why would they do such a weird thing, anyway, when the water heats just fine sitting in the sun? I can't convince him otherwise.

Would love to hear about your favorite activities this time of year. What do you do to keep cool? What do you do in spite of the heat? Do your activities change at all in the summer?

We had a birthday party for my oldest son this afternoon, which means that everyone who was available came over and spent the afternoon and early evening in our pool. We had a blast. I cooked all day yesterday in preparation for the event, and will spend tonight and tomorrow recuperating, but I sure enjoyed having everyone here.
We get to do it all again in two weeks for my number two son when he turns thirty, but with more people and more kids, and lots more craziness because he is the crazy one of the bunch. It will be even more fun. Can't wait ! He and his family only get to come down once or twice a year because he's in law enforcement and never gets any time off.

I find that even though the summer temps may climb into the 100's that, when it does, it usually is dry heat. So, we still enjoy sitting in our backyard toward the end of the day (we don't have a pool!) and watching nature. We have had an unusually high number of rabbits passing through this year and of course the variety of birds to watch never varies. Very relaxing!

I'm in FL now, but I do the same things... get out early and get my errands run, then sit under the a/c until it cool off enough in the evening to get out and do things again. I'm now living in a golf cart community and we frequently take the golf ncart out in the late evening to do fun things.
