From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

An impostor or imposter is a person who pretends to be somebody else, often to try to gain financial or social advantages through social engineering, but just as often for purposes of espionage or law enforcement. Pretenders for various thrones used to be common. Numerous men claimed they were Dauphin, the heir to the French throne who disappeared during the French Revolution, and there were three false Dimitris who were serious pretenders for the throne of Russia. Very daring impostors may pretend to be someone else who really exists, although fast news media has made this rather difficult. Usually they just misrepresent their financial status, educational status, social status, family background or in some cases, their gender. Impostors are usually aware of not being who they say they are, however there are borderline cases who may have ended up believing their own tall tales. People may make false claims about their past or background without being full-blown impostors; non-existent military service seems common. Many temporary impostors are criminals who maintain the façade for a time of a caper to defraud their victims (like Wilhelm Voigt).

Others, like US prankster Joey Skaggs, do it as a prank or to make a point of some kind. The latter usually reveal the truth sooner or later. Some, like John Howard Griffin, have adopted other identity for purposes of research, investigation or experiment. Note that although impostors usually misrepresent their background, their intentions may not be criminal as such. They may wish to start anew with a new identity or "go native"; i.e. adopt identity and customs of other people. Sometimes women have masqueraded as men to obtain privileges only men can have or work in male-dominated professions. Some of them have fought as men at least in Napoleonic Wars and American Civil War. Sometimes, an organization or individual who has been fooled keeps quiet to avoid the embarrassment and therefore allows the impostor try the same thing elsewhere. Of course, the most successful impostors are those whose duplicity is never revealed so that we know nothing about them.

You know, technically, all actors are impostors; pretending to be monstrous or heroic, taking on the mantle of someone alive, dead or fictional. The reason they get away with it is that WE pay them to do it, in the name of entertainment. For our gratification we give permission to these frauds to commit their acts.

But it doesn't stop there. Because their egos tell them that WE have given them permission to be frauds, that they have power. Some actors, like Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon (and, God help us, Henry Fonda and John Wayne) use this "power" to advocate for their social causes. This is where the deceit becomes ironic; because WE have given them permission to lie to us, and promise (with gold) that we will believe them, when they espouse their political and social views, WE believe those view as well. This feeds their egos and their pocketbook; after all, what other profession (besides politician) allows you to be PAID for lying to people?

In Shakespearean times actors, though allowed and paid to act, were nonetheless treated with some disdain. Then, they didn't have the power; it was in the hands of the writers, not the impostors. How times have changed!

One would think that once an imposter is uncovered the embarrassment of the discovery should be enough. Who would believe him ever again after such a discovery?

Sen Harry Reid of NV is an impostor. He has deluded the NV people into believing he has a brain in his head. Go to U Tube and do a Harry Reid search. Click on the dumb jerks video and hear how really stupid this man is. Maybe it is the electorate of Nevada who are stupid for electing this jerk Harry Reid. Las Vegas would be out of business if Reid's preferences were followed. What a jerk.

Political Impostors, or should we call them what they are "politicians", those elected by pretending they will work for the betterment of their electorate, are frequently exposed, but the same electorate screwed over and over again continue to re-elect these same impostors. The electorate is an impostor posing as if they were people who had brains, or at least knew how to use their brains.

It looks to me like Obama is going to win. Then let the electorate get a taste of what what Obama "dishes - up" with advice from his Socialist financial adviser Dr. Lamont Hill professor of economics at Vanderbilt.
