Karen Coughlin, a psychiatric nurse in Taunton, Mass., remembers the evening four years ago when her 14-year-old son asked her if any patients had tried to kill her that day.
“I was astounded, but he was serious because he’d heard about co-workers going to the hospital for injuries,” Ms. Coughlin said. “I’ve been hit, I’ve been kicked and spit on. I’ve had a knife pulled on me. I love what I do and many of the patients I work with, but I don’t love the conditions I work in.”

I worked as an aid in psychiatric hospitals for 25 years and I know these incidents are all too coman.

This may not be your kind of rant, but a good one would be for us adults over 50 to stop acting like grade school kids and stop the pettiness and arguing over b.s.!! I'm shocked over people who send you nasty emails and then block you from pm'ing them so you can't reply and discuss the matter in private!!!! Well, that's one of my rants anyway....

oops, I forgot to add: they post things in groups giving their side, when we all know there are two sides to every story. And if they or a friend are a moderator, they delete your post but allow the instigator's post to stay. GROW UP PEOPLE, this is not grade school, we have many important issues to address!!!!! And I will NOT let this cause me to leave eons, you can always just view groups that you're not members of anyway, for the record.

The demise of our fourth amendment rights, the fact that that the thing I love most in life, keeping gr'daughter exhausts me. Oh, but what a joy to rant about that. I am becoming her puppet, "Dance Mimi, sing Mimi, you do it Mimi!"
