Great article...
I find that swimming or walking are great ways to de-stress. I get a monthly massage for the body work that I need. It is not relaxing because I need deep tissue work and it is sometimes uncomfortable but I find that I sleep better that night and that also decreases stress.
I have heard sitting in a hot tub or sauna releases toxins which releases stress.

I've used a lot of these and they do work. Yoga is my newest one....just took my hour long class tonight. My mind swims and swirls during the first few minutes....then I have to concentrate on the poses in order to actually do them and my mind clears. By the end I'm centered.
I have several visualization meditation CDs.....and they are wonderful for allow me to shut my mind off and sleep. I also see a massage therapist weekly....that's not so much for relaxation as it is to allow me to do things like turn my head and check my blind spot in traffic, but it does allow me some time to check in with my body and I spend the session connecting with areas that are sore or hurt.
I also have guided CDs with autogenic relaxation and progressive muscle relaxation. I don't do these well on my own, but with a voice guiding me, no problem.
My own personal favorite, and one I tell people all the time is breath.e...belly breathe. Your belly, not your chest, should expand if you are breathing to relax.
I use the 4, 7, 8 technic.....breathe in for four counts, hold for seven counts, and then breathe out for eight counts. In times of stess, I do this at least three times...and by the third time I can feel my shoulders lowring, my body relaxing.....great stuff!
