There is an article today that reports that Congress's approval ratings are in the single digits. Can you see why? They are nuts and media hogs. Before C-span they could be idiots without us seeing them; now they can't. I heard Sen. Warner, this morning, discuss the option of the 55mph speed limit; ya know...the one they used 20+ yrs ago? What dunces.! All of them are still in the 20th century or just plain out-of-touch with reality. They have gone every which away to try anything other than drilling and/or building nuclear/solar/coal. To try and bring America's use of oil to a screeching halt is ridiculous and beyond realistic. I'm ok with trying to change the way we use energy, but Congress has messed around for so many years that there is NO quick fix. Now they want US to bow down and accept their lack of responsible representation.
They don't call them kneeJERK reactionaries for nothing.
Pitiful, just pitiful, but I know who I voted for.
the sad thing is that we keep putting these assholes back in office....and the new ones that come in get corrupted as soon as they arrive.....in order to get buy you have to go along.....what a flawed system.......term limitations......6 years and out......just saying
I think this is a great post. I hope you don't mind, but I am going to post this video on another group site. Everybody should watch our dangerous congress at work.

I want to believe that the "system" was good until corruption and personal aggrandizement became the status quo and acceptable by *us* Americans. Sadly, most of us are too busy with Life to hold these joker accountable. They're killin' us.
maybe the "lightbulb" will go off in the voters minds if they hear enough of this!! I agree with one poster who suggests term limits.
The framers of our constitution never envisioned the permanent politicians (just as they didn't foresee the political parties, that sprung up immediately). Citizen Legislators, serve a term or two, and then back to regular life. Hence no Term Limits.
I'd also like to see a limited number of terms, or years of service. Maybe 3 for the Senate (18 years), and 9 (18 years) for the House.
I'm not sure if that isn't still a bit too long, but am a bit wary of having revolving seats in key committee posts.
Term Limits as I see it:
1. All congress members are elected for one 6 year term.
2. Each two years there is an election for 1/3 of the members.
3. By doing this, you always have a batch of freshmen reps 1-2 yrs, junior reps 3-4 yrs, and senior reps 5-6 yrs.
4. No campagining and no campagin funds can be cared over. After your election the campagin funds are turned into the Treasury within 3 months after assuming office.
5. Once you hold a congressional seat you can never hold another congressional seat. You can only run for office on a state level. States are forced into term limits but once this method shows it works, I am sure that states would be looking at this also.
Just saying........
It must have been a slow day if that is all he had to talk about. Aren't there more pressing issues? No wonder Congress' rating is so low.
The fact that they had already talked about it and passed legislation on friggin Light Bulbs is what just makes me furious.....the fact that someone in Congress had the balls to point it out to the Speaker of the House and her Ho Hum attitude about it just makes me even madder......they are for the most part all a bunch of idiots caught in a time warp......and we are paying the price for their inability to get anything of substance accomplished because they are worrying about light bulbs and steriod in MLB .....just saying
