Workng Families Party

I am new to all this but I had to post my political beliefs. I am a registared democrat but I always vote working families party. This party was started by unions. My union, the UAW had a part it as well. They support whoever supports the needs of working Americans, mostly Democrats but sometimes Republicans. I voted for Hillary since she is my senator plus the fact I believe Bill Clinton will go down as one of the best presidents we ever had. Bush started out with enough money from the Clinton administration to pay off the national debt but squandered it on attacking Iraq for no apparent reason. Plus he shreaded the constitution. I am fully behind Obama in this coming fall election and will probably be making phone calls like I do every year calling members of the UAW to go out and vote for Obama on the working families party line.

What will Obama do for you, you think?

I can not see where our country is in that bad of shape and is pretty much been here before. Is it that people really think they deserve the biggest and the best of everything. Now candidates can stand before you and promise this and that but rarely do they do anything but the useless promises. I am union to and I will not vote for Obama because he is to quick to have the answers minutes after he says all the wrong things.Like a wife that is a liability. Unfortunately being the big dog on the planet costs money. We are spending much more on Illegals in this country but I don't hear anyone saying much of anything about that.

And even more importantly, what have the Klintons done for you or to you? I don't know if Clinton will go down, but plenty of others have.

You have made an unsubstantiated statement that Bush shredded the (C)onstitution. Please clarify?

Clinton did pretty well...when he had a Repub Congress.

Still, a full boat Dem government brings on my self-congratulations for planning ahead as a young person, so that one day, I can live here, or anywhere, comfortably, as I watch my purse being robbed by said thieves.

Well, retiredblues, seems you got a little bit of the flavor of this forum.
Hope it did not run you away.

Have you seen where they are shutting down the GM plant here in Wisconsin? Do you think they'll shut down a plant in Japan to equalize things? Or do you think they might enlarge existing or build new factories in Japan to pick up the slack?

I sort of remember that Bill Clinton left a projected surplus that 'might' accrue after many many years, that would have been used to pay the deficit--not the actual money needed to pay off the deficit immediately. If you remember, Gore and Bush deated in 2000 on how best to use these 'projected' surpluses--did you really think that a fed government that has grown in size over 60% over the past 8 years was really going to mantain those 'projected' surpluses? The democratic presiential candidate has already uggested anothewr 1.4 trillion in additional government programs if mhe is elected. He has also chsnged from immediately leaving Iraq to a policy of moreslowly removing our forces over time (suppoedly for the troops' safety). o even under Obama the war will suck dollars away from us and even he still wants to keep ,spending on domestic programs. The top fifty percent of tax payers now pay 96% of all federal income taxes--could you explain to me how the raising of taxes on the top 2% (the idea Obama is using to finance his programs) will really be able to work! I remember how in the old days the 'peasants' would revolt because of high taxes ( like in the french revolution)--since we now have the exact oppoite situatiuon ( nowadays the top 50% are getting targeted) don't you think that the best and the brightest and the most productive among us just might do the same?

Stem, you clearly know more about all this economics than I do. And I MAY be playing a semantic game here, but it is not really raising taxes on the most wealthy, it is not renewing the tax cuts Bush gave them and going back to the rate we had before.

So you say 'dont raise tax on wealthiest' and I say 'don't extend tax cuts to wealthy'--- Pretty much the same tho.

I dont remember any revolt when those were the rates.

Although, last I looked that top tier have been the only group to prosper in the last decade... maybe they might be more motivated for revolt now.

Dear Rock
The old portion of the car industry that is in trouble in this country are the guys in detroit. Toyota has been building cars in this country for years and providing good paying jobs to 10's of thousands of americns in the process. Toyoto has had plants operating from Mississippi to California for the longest time and they are greatly apprecxiated in the states that they operate out of.
