A place where all my friends (and I don't mean from the "friends" section but all of you from Somos Latino) kind of like in a small village in Mexico or PR where we could be more than friends. More like if something happened we could depend on each other. We could invite our children to join us so that our G-kids could grow up with us. You know, kinda like that!

As you all know I am moving back to Austin. I will be on vacation for 2 weeks and depending on the outcome I will then decide when I move back. Next to Austin San Antonio and Corpus Christi would be the city I would consider living.

I do not want to move to another city. At 61 years old I need or want to continue working. In Puerto Rico my teacher license is for life. my sick days accumulate every year. Now I have 110 days to be sick in this year.( that is 5 months in a school calendar). When I retire they will pay me my sick days if I do not get sick. In my classroom I have a refrigerator, microhonda, coffemaker. My cooworkers have being my friend for 20 years or more. I paint my classroom every year the color I want. My school is near my house 5 minutes in car or 15 minutes walking.
My 3 children live near me. They can visit me at my work or at my house. They fight with each other to be with me in the weekends. They always have been my first priority.
I love my 4 dogs,2 cats,2 birds. They are old. I will need a house with a fence backyard.
I will like to travel. I will like to stay a month in Spain, a month in France, a month in Italy, a month in Mexico and visit California, and others states for a month

Ambar how comfortable and beautiful that sounds. You're blessed. Ed67 I like the way you think. I am in Florida and I like it, but I do miss the change of seasons and the beautiful mountains of up north. Florida is very flat. If I could take the people I love I would like to live somewhere in the center of Puerto Rico. In Cidra, or Caguas or Ponce. In the mountainous area. Sitting on the portal and catching the breezes that come of the mountains is so cleansing. Driving from one village to the next would always take my breath away with the beauty I would see. And the variety of homes. From large and luxurious to small and simple. I always tell my family that if I won the lottery I would buy a compound and build a house for everyone. The old fashioned kind with balconies that wrap around the whole house. Now I have to add houses for all of you so that you could live or come and vacation.

Ed, that would be a wonderful community for all of us! I don't think I would leave Texas or the southwest for that matter but I would love to have a summer home in the carribean, Spain or Italy. The cities in Texas I would even think about moving to would be FT.Worth, SanAntonio and yes Corpus Christi! If I did choose another state besides My Texas it would have to be New Mexico....love SantaFe!

I spend half my life wishing I was in a big city. I am now reasonably close to my grandchildren, I have the night stars, peace and quiet in the rural place I live now. I do love it. But there are days when I want to go to the theater, eat in nice restaurants and see museums and a lot of different people. I would move to San Fransisco if it was affordable and not going to fall in the ocean with the next earthquake!

I envy you Chuleta and all you big city folks. I imagine that you are living a really exotic and vibrant life.

I was born and raised in New York City. I have traveled to many beautiful places throughout the US and some countries in Europe and SA. I have to be honest, as crazy as New York can be I don't think I can live anywhere else. When they say that NY is the city that never sleeps...that is no lie. You can find anything you want within walking distance. Every major bank, ethnic restaurants from everywhere, clothing stores, pharmacies, laundromats, movie theaters, spas, beauty salons, bars up the wazzu. I happen to live in Harlem and am surrounded by so many cultural places and events that you never run out of things to do in the Summer or Winter. Free conserts, free theater in the parks, a travelling jazz mobile, movies in bryant park out in the open, rooftop movies. There is always something for everyone.

Hey how bout if we have our reunion in New York City!!!! Just bring your bullet proof vests LOL!

Hi Everyone!

Right now I feel as if I am in limbo. I know I would like to move to a warmer climate, but I have no idea where. Sometimes I think of returnig to Panama where I have lots of relatives, but my kids will be here. My daughter would follow me, but I don't want her to do that. I want her to have a life here. My son is with me now, God only knows where he will end up. My sister may go back to Panama and my brother as well. Only because they would be able to survive better economically. So, I would like to retire within the next 3 years. In the meantime, I am thinking, thinking, thinking. Que sera, sera. The ideal community would be one described by Ed67.

Yes, Chuleta is right on the money. That is one thing I would miss. All the various restaurants from the world over, you name it, you find it here at all hours. I compare it to San Antonio and there is a tremendous difference here. But if I go by this, I would never leave. We will see. Amanecera y veremos!
