Can We Agree On This ?

In your life you hae met people you didn't like right off . You have met some you liked right away . Then there are those who had to prove themselves before you warmed up to them . Is that right ? It is for me anyway .

Obama was one who had to prove himself . He kept shooting himself in the foot over and over again . I finally took the position that I didn't like him . There is nothing the man can do at this point to win me over . His explanations weren't enough for me when he had the chance . His wife , as are all spouses , is a liability .

I would like to point out that I was a Perot Supporter at one time . I honestly felt he could have been elected at one time had he asked Jesse Jackson to run as Vice President with him . I was a lot less informed at that time . I didn't know Jesse was a convicted felon .

Well, I was the very opposite. When I first saw Obama a few years ago, I thought he had so much going for him. Then I saw how he reacted to the Rev. Wright problem. I no longer can trust him. For one, if he sat in that Church for all those years and didn't have a clue about Wright's feelings then he isn't observant enough to be President.
If he lied to all of us and knew all along about the Hate in the Wright Church for "White People" then I can't trust him as a "White Person".

After seeing Obama at the 2004 convention, I thought he had charisma and great potential. But I was stunned that he would decide that his thin resume qualified him to run our country during these troubled times. He should have waited another cycle and built his record. But his ego evedently would not allow him to wait. If he were a true patriot, he would allow the qualified candidates to run now, then take his turn. His hubris does not get my vote. I am disappointed in his lack of judgment.

I agree that I don't like him, he is not good for our country. And Heaven help us if he gets in office.

southern charm and kern,

I totally agree with both of you. Obama was dynamic at the 2004 Convention, but is too untested to be President. And a bit too wishy washy as well. However, he is a gifted orator! I must pass on him this time around.

I sure don't want an orator answering the red telephone at 3 A.M. in the morning.

When the Rev. Wright stuff came out I lost all respect for Obama. Then when he gave his speech defending his association with Wright and called his grandmother a "typical white woman" because of her discomfort with a certain black man on the street, that blew me away! Maybe he doesn't remember when Jesse Jackson said that if he were walking down a street in the city and sensed someone following him and turned around to see a white man he would be relieved. That is not a direct quote but is how I remember it being said. Maybe Jesse could be called a "typical black man" I don't know what do you think?

I certainly agree that first impressions are important. Let me quote from your post about Obama. "His wife, as are all spouses, is a liability." What kind of impression do you make? Do you actually feel that everybody is married to a liability? That means anybody who is married is a liability to their spouse. Can we agree on this, don't run for public office. You lack the talent to make a good first impression.

mobaker,
Don't EVEN bring Obama up! What is wrong with you? You aren't obviously the member I use to know. You want Socialism in the Great Land you fought for? What is up with that?!
