Wedding photography

I have had the privilege of being a 'first assistant' for two Des Moines area wedding photo studios...I learned a lot and I was usually the one doing the receptions and the candids...probably the 'gift of gab' I inherited from my father...always been able to put groups at ease and get the 'special' photo that they like...have been doing this part-time for 20 years...now my nephew in Alaska has asked me to be his primary photog...they started late and were put off by the limited availability in July...also the $2,000 basic fees...I guess Uncle Jim will do his best with 35MM and digital...

Cool! I just did my first wedding, it wasn't stressful until I was converting my raw files to jpeg and my computer got four viruses quite suddenly and i've been waiting for my computer to be fixed since then, and the bride and her family are ready to order and can't even see the pictures. My computer tech, (my son), assures me the pictures will be preserved, should i be worried? :-)

RetiredTwice,
I just retired once (June 30)and Monday I am going to have lunch with a friend to talk about shooting 2nd camera at his the weddings he books. I told him that I love photography but I am no dummy and have watched People's Court when photographers get sued for not producing the product that the "subjective" clients see in their minds eye. Congratulations to you. You must be quite good at it. I had decided to go back to school to take more classes. My friend in essence is calling me a chicken and a perfectionist. He says I just need to jump in and do it.
