Why I don't like Barry

A lot of what I feel towards him may not be factual . I'll ever know , because he doesn't like to elaborate on things . He want's to move forward and NOT explain the past . My point is :

He has never settled the issue of "I hate whites Wright" for me . If I would have been in his shoes I would have railed against him to no end .His distancing failed and his response was short and sweeet . Nowhere near what it should have been . It was like saying "I'm Sorry" now lets move on . He supported Wright at first and then denounced him and let it go . That was a HUGE mistake on his part to win over me . Terriblle response from him as far as I'm concerned .

The non hand over heart and no flag pin issue . He should have apologized to the American Public and just pleaded temporary insanity . From that point on , he should watch is actions and learn from them . He should be a leader of Patriotism and set an example for us to look up to . He isn't doing so .

Muslim issue . He should have NEVER written that book about his father . Since he did , He needs to go over it word by word and explin exactly his thoughts and statemants . I don't think that would save the day though .The cat's out the bag and the dirty laundry is there . He needs to wash it thorougly .

He should have apologized for his wife's statements and announced he is an American first and proud of it ! He should have then put her on the spot to retract her statement . She's not helping him in my eyes .

Her thesis . We as a nation need an apology for that one and she should have come out and stated she was young and dumb back then and was sorry for writting it . She could have stated she has changed since then and see's the error of her ways .

His Grand Parents should be one of his focal points in his life and he should speak of them often . His Mother too . and what a positive influnce she was....even if that's an exageration . I have heard more and seen more about his sperm donor than anyone else . And that's a negative in my eyes .

These two people [ Barry and Micky ] do not have the tact to run a campaign in my eyes . I will give them credit for something though . What you see is what you get ! I can't take that from them . Personally , I don't want it ! Keep it in Chicago where politics is the most crooked game in town .

The issue with Church bothered me alot. I looked at the UCC main page (predominantly white demonination) and saw no strong support for Wright. Nor did I hear a lot (there were some) support for him from representatives of the Black Church. Quite the contrary.
What would I have done with a Church that had been part of my life for 20years, where my friends worshiped, where my neighbors and children worshiped? I dont know... I might have pulled out FASTER, I might have left BEFORE I had aspirations for President.... I don't know. But when I looked at the Trinity web page, it WAS Afro/Black centered (ok, a Black church) that did TONS more community service than any Church I ever went to. Nothing anti-White about being pro-Black in my view.

The heart and flag pin issue has been beat to death. Snopes has things on this. But to think that either candidate, with a history of public/political service is not patriotic is getting silly.

He never should have written about the father who left when he was a child and he saw ONCE after that? He should hide his past?

She has stated repeatedly that she was talking about pride in the energized political process with so many people involved. I share her view in that regard... I am PROUD that on all sides of the aisle (as in this forum) people are talking about politics. If you dont think O-Mama's post of a similar statement by McCain is fair (as I do) then is it OK to use the same ruler for Michelle Obama?

What thesis? The one she wrote when she was a college student? There are several links I can happily supply which document how this is being mis-represented in the media. But somehow, I think you might not be interested.

AGAIN- if you are conservative, plenty of reasons not to vote for him. No need to dig up the flag pin incident as justification for something as important as a vote.

I'm not a fanatic. I have some serious issue with him.
But I think I am becoming a fanatic about people who keep rehasing the Muslim/Flag Pin/patriotic issue.

How much elaboration do you need? The man has given major speeches on this.... There are hundred of pages of elaboration on his webpage... He has answered the questions over and over again.

I dont think there IS an elaboration or explanation that would satisfy some people. Maybe it is better to admit that than construct arguably irrelevant reasons or alreay-refuted reasons for your vote.

byrd , I just feel he moves off an isssue too soon without explaining fully . I am of the same thoghts as you about the church thing and to this day , I have not heard an acceptable explanation or his regrets on it . I believe his particular church is dedicated to helping out African Nations .

Obama NEVER answers things completely. If there is a problem he isolates himself from it.
There are many little things about Obama that bother me, also I think that the media is helping him not explain himself. I can't wait until the debates when he actually has to reply to pointed questions.

Whether a question is answered in a satisfactory way is up to each person. Some are easily satisified; some will never be satisified. Some can't be answered-- e.g. How does one PROVE they are patriotic? Is a flag pin enough?

He HAS received a ton more media coverage than McCain.

As far as I can tell, a lot of this is spent trying to answer all the repeated charges against him... the latest that he is not patriotic.

Ironic that the attacks end up giving him more air time.

I cant wait for the debates either :-)

byrd , I can only speak for myself and as you stated " Is a flag pin enough?" No it isn't and to many it's a moot point . But when you total up a lot of things that are connected in the same nature it is . As I stated in the original post .

If you take his wife's statement and add that to the hand over heart thing along with the lack of a flag pin and then take Wright's rantings and a racest church then throw in a thesis & a Black Anthem by a different party and ask me to respect him ? NO , he needs to be howling at the roof tops about all of them . He needs to draw attention to those items and make it VERY loud and clear where he stands . Issuing a statement isn't the way . And mentioning it in passing isn't either . This isn't slam on my part , but I see him as a person who doesn't feel the need to explian if he feels in his heart he's right . I've done that in my life too . It doesn't help your cause though .

No market , I didn't . Did he take down his wife a few notches ? Did he say he was going to do better to be an American ? Did he say he had made mistakes and wanted another chance ? If you say no to any of this than I didn't miss anything .

So you complain about his lack of explanation. Did not know about his widely broadcast speech on patriotism. Maybe did not know about the same with the speech about religion.

So you say you dont get an explanation despite many being given.

When someone points out several answers were given, you instead ask them a few questions? Instead of looking for or asking where to find this explanation you so much desire.

You say: if this unknown poster doesn't answer the way I prefer, I missed nothing.

It's one thing to listen to the explanations and say you were not happy with them. Tons of people did that.

It's another ball game when you complain of no explanation and don't even want to look at them aside from answers from someon on a friggin' forum thread. I simply have zero understanding of that kind of thinking.

Too much.

I dont think you want an explanation. I dont think there is an explanation that would satisfy you. So maybe dont ask for one and blow people off like the last poster when they took the time ask you a question.

OK I went to You Tube and watched the entire Obama Patriotism speech, all 28 minutes and 22 seconds worth. All I can say is he can read words well. I wouldn't say it was a complete waste of my thim (although it was), but anyone could have given that speech, the problem is his actions don't match his words. He condemned those who disrespected our Vietnam vets, but his supporters John Kerry and Jane Fonda were ones who disrespected the troops. He said no one should question John McCain's service, yet he sends out his surrogates to do just that. I found his speech to be more, "I will define patriotism and this is what I want you to believe about me" and not this is what I am. The only thing I criticize him on his delivery is with the use of two teleprompters he looks like he is watching a tennis match - but I will admit, he reads it much better than John McCain - if that is important to your vote for president, he is your man.
