A Nice Birthday

Thanks to all my critter friends for their happy birthday wishes! I am having a very
nice birthday. Mom put me out on the porch in my stroller at about 8 this morning
and I stayed out for an hour before I called her to bring me inside. When I came in
I did a thorough patrol of the house, had a snack and a drink of water and said
good morning to Grandma then I asked Mom to put me outside again and she said
yes. The sun was already getting hot so Mom rolled down the awning and parked
me under it. It was nice and cool in the shade and I watched the birds for awhile
before I came inside for a nice long nap.

Since I won’t eat anything but kibble, Mom’s not making me anything special to
eat today. I don’t like people food and don’t even like canned cat food though I
will - very rarely - lick a tiny bit of tuna oil drained from the canned tuna Mom
and Grandma eat. For lunch I did get a special treat. Mom made omelettes for
herself and Grandma. When she makes omelettes she slices up green olives to
put in the eggs and today she gave me a whole stuffed olive. I pretended it was
prey and smacked, chased and finally pounced on and disemboweled it. (Well,
the pimento did look a little like guts.) That was so much fun! I nibbled a little
bit of the olive; what a strange tasting thing it was. Anyway, chasing that bugger
made me tired so I took another nap. Mom must have thrown it out while I was
sleeping cuz it was nowhere to be found when I woke up. That was okay; Mom
played “go get it” with me. She coils up a piece of nylon rope and throws it and
I run and bring it back to her. Then she holds the rope, wiggles it in the air or
drags it on the floor while I jump, pounce and try to snag it away from her. When
I do, she’ll take it back, coil it and throw it again. Of course, I had to go take
another nap after that!

I can’t wait for the fireworks tonight! I’m not afraid of loud noises and I like the
pretty colors. I also like to sit at a window and watch the lightning while the
thunder booms. My late “brother” always hid under Grandma’s bed when there
was a thunder storm. He was such a funny boy. I DO miss him though. I guess
Mugsy’s death is making me think of Junie. He acted a lot like a dog so maybe he
and “the dude” are hanging together now. I think they’d get along really well.
Junie liked to play run-and-hide then he’d jump out when Mama found him and
he’d pretend to run away only he’d run slow so he didn’t get too far ahead of her
so she could see where he went to hide. He also liked guitar music and used to sit
and watch Mama play her guitar.

Well, I’m gonna see if my mom will let me out in my stroller so I can watch the
sunset. Then we’ll watch the fireworks together or at least what we can see of
them from this part of town.

See ya!

Wow minnie, you had such an exciting day, I got tired just hearing about it. Mom laughed when I told her about how your smacked that olive around. I kind of do that with my kibble. I grab a piece and ran to the rug with it and throw it in the air a few times before I eat it and then I ran back to my bowl and keep doing that until I'm full. I was thinken maybe, I have a little cat in my blood cus you sure sounded like me.
Your so lucky you got to sit out in your stroller today. Do you ever snooze when your in it? I can't wait to hear about the sunset and the fireworks.
Mom's a big kid at heart (don't know what that means) so she went outside with dad and they lite up all these sparklers. I stayed inside and just watched through the door cus they kind of scared me. Anyway, she kept writing Mugsy's name in the air with the sparklers. She said we were celebrating his life. I think I like that, she said we could do that every 4th of July.
Your sure lucky to be born on such a special day.
Hope you get to sleep in tomorrow cus you sure were busy today.
Happy Birthday To You

WOW, another cat that fetches, I LOVE it! Mom wads up paper and I bring it back and we do tis till I get tired then I nap too! I play with my food because it absolutely drives Haishi nuts! Dried apricots are my favorite people food, but Mom doesn't let me have alot of them, I pretty much eat whatever Mom does, but mostly I eat dry and canned cat food, but I give Mom the big kitty eyes and she will share a tiny bite with me, except for chocolate and raisins and grapes. I am so glad your birthday was so special, it is time for me to hide, they are shooting loud things in the neighborhood and I do not like it! Birthday cuddles and kisses! The Coonster

Now that the little barbarian has left, we can have a MATURE talk. I think I want a troller so I can sit outside too. It would feel so good to have the sun on my fur and feel the breeze and watch all the wild critters. I am sorry you miss Junie so much, but I am also sure that Mugsy has taken him in paw by now aand that they are good buddies! Daisy, your Mom's tribute to Mugsy is way cool and I am sure he is watching all the going ons tonight. We are at Denny's tonight and the humans and Maggy will go some place tomorrow, but will leave us plenty of food if Coonie can keep from "paw fingering" everything, he is such a heathen! Callie and I are becoming real good friends, you all will get to meet her, she is very beautiful with all kinds of colors in her fur and she has two different color eyes! Denny is going to set up their profile next week so you all can meet them. There is a whole bunch of them. I liked all the way everyone shared the names of the brothers and sisters that went to the Rainbow Bridge so Mugsy will know who to look for. I do not feel so sad now knowing he will have all that company! I am glad you had a wonderful day and am sending Big Cuddles your way, Haishi

Hello Minnie

Well, it sounds like you had a really fun birthday. I never had an olive - sounds interesting Hmmmm we will have to try that some time. Yep, I am agreeing with Coonster - I have been in hiding all night because the neighbors are shooting off really loud noisy things and I am so scared of those noises also. - My sister Bonnie was watching for a while with Mama but she got a little scared when there was a big boom. Glad you had a great birthday Minnie - Mine is in August and I will celebrate then. Bonnie's is in August also but both of our Gothcha Days are in February.

Have a good night

Sounds like you had a great birthday, Minnie! Happy Belated by the way!

Boy I'd like to see Cady with an olive! She LOVES to attack dust bunnies! She'd go nuts over an olive! (what's an olive? Can you eat it?)
