Ashley...what's happening with her

Since there are updates here on Dogs...thought I'd share about Ashley. Not sure if I have told this group much about her. She was showing changes in her fur that alerted the vet to her having a thyroid problem. On June 2nd I took her in to have blood work done. It came back showing she needed thyroid meds. I started her on the dosage the vet gave me with instructions to come back right before the pills are done for more blood work. This is necessary to see if the dosage is correct. The pills caused my poor Ashley to have acid reflux. A call to the vet yielded the solution...1/4 pill of pepcid a/c daily along with the thyroid pill in the morning. Wednesday I took Ashley for her follow up blood work. Came back showing the dosage of thyroid pills is too strong. Now, she is on a 1 mg. pill instead of a 2 mg pill. I still have to give her 2 pills daily, 12 hours apart. The vet gave me 100 pills...50 days worth. Just before these are done, I am to bring her back for another blood test. Wow, what we go through for our furbabies. They are worth it, though. Ashley is such a wonderful dog whose given me almost 7 years of unconditional love.

I'm so glad you worked out the solution for your dear Ashley. I'm glad my kids are grown because my fur kids take the same tlc and time and money as they did. And they're worth it!

Isn't that the truth, Yukonsmom! We know we love our furbabies when we are faced with the time and money they can create.

Ashley knows you love her, and will take care of her. They are our babies and we'll do anything. Good luck

Ashley is very lucky to have you for her mommy. Keep us up-dated on how she is doing.

My sister has a mixed breed dog named Eddie...he is her baby. Eddie is diabetic. She has to be very careful with his diet and she gives him shots everyday. She rushes him to the vet at any sign of a medical problem. But it is worth it...he gives her unconditional love and attention.
