The key to long life
Thanks but no thanks!!!
Celibacy the key to long life
A woman who is celebrating her 105th birthday is attributing her long life to remaining celibate.
Clara Meadmore, a resident at Perran Bay nursing home in Truro, Cornwall, only moved in to care in January.
The retired secretary said sex meant marriage when she was young and she never wanted to marry.
"I have just never been interested in sex. I imagine there is a lot of hassle involved and I have always been busy doing other things."
Miss Meadmore was born in Glasgow in 1903, two years after Queen Victoria died, and she remembers the Titanic sinking and the outbreak of WWI.
Her family travelled and she lived in Canada and New Zealand before moving back to Britain in her 20s where she worked as a housekeeper and secretary.
After serving in the army in Egypt during WWII, she lived between London and New Zealand before retiring to Cornwall 40 years ago.
She will celebrate her 105th birthday on Saturday by reading a card from the Queen and having a 'drop' of wine, she said.

Mainline Christians favor Obama

Among mainline church members such as Presbyterians and Episcopalians, Obama leads 49 percent to 45 percent among older voters, and 47 percent to 42 percent among younger voters.
Obama has a larger lead among Catholics. Fifty-one percent say they support Obama, compared to 40 percent who say they support McCain. Among younger Catholics, 55 percent support Obama, while 40 percent back McCain.
(Evangelical voters are mostly for McCain.)
In a national survey released Sept. 25 by the nonpartisan American Jewish Committee (AJC), the Democratic nominee had the support of 57 percent of Jewish adults, 12 percent less than Sen. John Kerry at the same time in the 2004 campaign. Senator McCain had 30 percent, with 13 percent still undecided>.. view link
Can this tiny group of people -- 2% of the national population -- make much of a difference? Well, maybe, in a tight election. In Florida in 2000, just a few hundred people could have flipped the state and the election. In Ohio in 2004, about 60,000 voters (out of about 5.6 million) could have changed the outcome. view link

Hi all, I have so many recipes I want share I don't know where to begin. I am thinking about some for the holidays. I am going to list some and if anyone wants the recipe email me and I'll send list it. I have been trying to keep my blog updated with each results and lately I have not had the time I wanted to get to all of my groups. Once I hope to keep up and find time to send recipes as I am searching for more in my collection.
Friendship Cake and starter juice
Amish sour dough starter
Monkey Bread
Spinach Squares
Microwave Peanut Brittle
Eagle Brand Milk (yes you can make your own)
Pizza Casserole
Wheat Fudge (no bake cookie)
Pork Pie (I have never given this recipe away before)
Pasties - this too I have never given before. These 2 recipes were passed down from my mother-in-law to me. The story goes that the pasties provided coal miners a meal all in one it was something that was filling and affordable.
The same goes for pork pies and these recipes were from an area in Michigan. Have a Blessed Day!

OUCH!
Sorry Mr. McCain, but it turns out the young African-American man wasn't a no-nothing, head scratching thug after all:
How did I feel about Sen. McCain stating “You probably never heard of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac before this.”
Well Senator, I actually did. I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent person. I have a bachelor degree in Political Science from Tennessee State, so I try to keep myself up to date with current affairs. I have a Master degree in Legal Studies from Southern Illinois University, a few years in law school, and I am currently pursuing a Master in Public Administration from the University of Memphis. In defense of the Senator from Arizona I would say he is an older guy, and may have made an underestimation of my age. Honest mistake. However, it could be because I am a young African-American male. Whatever the case may be it was somewhat condescending regardless of my age to make an assumption regarding whether I was knowledgeable about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

I hate to break it to the folks who deny their is racism (as in Whites being racist towards Blacks), but this is just one more example of how passive racism works.

Hey guys

Since we don't really have a theme for tonight, how about who ever gets here first can chose what to do and we will all play follow the leader! Like the other day in Brian and Diana's music room I was playing any song with "Night" in the title. It was interesting. Anyhow, Let's play follow the leader, and whoever is first gets to be the leader.
