You could never tell if he was goofing on Elvis or doing him dead on. That was the whole point. It leaves the question up to the beholder is this a tribute to Elvis or a jab at Elvis. Maybe the punchline is the exaggerated movements or the "Thank you very mus." mumble. Is it funny? You bet your Andy Kaufman it is. The guy suffered a concussion and crushed vertebrae in his neck for the sake of one joke. He was out of control.
