Scalp or Hair problems

Does anyone have intense itching on thier scalp?? Or if they wear thier hair up in a ponytail or clip (on top of) does thier hair shaft hurt so bad it brings tears to your eyes?? Does anyone also have a problem with thier hair maintaining that oh so fresh smell from washing it??
thanks

yep its funny you should bring that up. I finally went out and bought some shampoo for itchy scalp, not just itchy but almost painful, hurts to the touch... its not dandruff just sensitive scalp. I'll let you know how it works it is called dermarest they say it is good for psorasis but you can use it for other stuff (and I don't have that either so we shall see). Lana

From my new bible, Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome, it sounds like a trigger point. the description (I have it too) says

"Just the motion of the wind on your hair can hurt the crown of you head. It may be painful to brush your hair. "

I can switch my part around usually but some days, to move my hair hurts so much I could cry.

Do you know about trigger points?

peace baby

I do sometimes feel like if I touch my scalp, it is very tender, and almost squishy like a rotting melon! Hurts like a bruise. Sometimes it is dry but because I am blonde (bottle blond) I don't see flakes. I do also feel it itches sometimes but always chalked that up to using mousse & hairspray.
I can trigger a headache by touching my scalp.
I wash my hair every other day now. Used to be every day when I worked. It is thin, dry & fine. I hate it.

diagnosed in 1996. one and a half years after giving birth to my last daughter.. had the symptoms for a few years before that so i guess i was 33. Filed for SSI in 2000 and finally got it in 2003. but only after getting Legal Aid involved. The best thing about them is they did not charge me a penny...

I didn't check your age so you may be way too young for this but the not so fresh smelling hair was a big problem for me during menopause. Scalp got itchy, too. I would have a hot flash and sweat would pour out from my scalp. My hair smelled like a wet dog! I would shampoo a couple of times a day with a moisturizing shampoo. Also, when FMS symptoms started (didn't know what was wrong) my hair hurt. I had very long hair and all I could do was french braid it because pulling it up into a clip or band hurt so bad I would get a splitting headache. I got arthritis in my fingers and couldn't braid anymore so I just gave up and cut it short.

Well, now I see you're just 44! Why don't you mix a little baking soda with your shampoo in the palm of your hand and lather up with that. The baking soda will neutralize any odors and remove styling product and conditioner build up.

Don't have your scalp and hair problem. Wonder if others are losing their hair because of meds and stress though.

I don't have any problems with my hair except for drastic thinning. Thank goodness I always had very thick hair or I would probably be bald by now~ I'm going to get my labs done next week and one thing they are checking is thyroid which I understand can cause thinning but when I look around at other ladies their hair is thin too. I'm writing it off as an old age thing. I will have to check my meds to see if it's listed as a side effect. I take four blood pressure meds , Lyrica and others..
