About the skin editor ...

I know that you can use as 'background' for your profile an image file from "offsite", I've tried it and it works.

Returning to edit that skin, the reference to the image file previously entered has changed to what appears to be a ".jpeg" file stored on Eons.

Interesting because I'm experimenting with the use of animated .gif as background, and it still works regardless of the extension on the apparent file. ( 'jpeg', image files AFAIK cannot be animated )

So, what am I missing here?

... and another thought - in the same general area of 'Skins' ...

Is there an Eons group dedicated to those folks that have contributed to the Skin Gallery?

Try the Eons Background Gallery.

There's no code that alters URLs. The only thing we do is check the URL to ensure that it *is* a url and not, for example, an HTML image tag. I believe the URL also needs to have an extension that is supported by all web browsers - jpg, png, jpeg, gif and so on. If the URL isn't right, we show an error alert and won't let you save the skin.

'background gallery' not exactly the same thing so I 'fixed it'

... and feel like an idgit 'cuz I can see now that the link to external graphic ( to be used as background ) has not changed. shoulda done screenshots before - swear it was like I described, else wouldn't have asked about it ... shrug
