I can't help you with the loopback problem, but I will say that using Limewire, or any other P2P file sharing program. you're leaving yourself open for a badly infected computer, AV and firewall and other prophylactic programs installed notwithstanding.
Personally, I would never download a file from anything other than a trusted source, and even then I'm suspect. Nowadays, virii and trojans even come on installation CD's. Unless you KNOW the person you're getting the files from, I'd run, not walk, away from Limewire and uninstall it from my computer post haste and run multiple scans to make sure my computer is clean.
suzj,
here's a link I found about Limewire and Loopback....
view linkI agree with JasonE - you really are opening your computer up to infection far more easily by using the peer-2-peer applications like Limewire.
If you need any more information on it, enter the words "loopback connection" into a google search. that's where I found the link up above.

Especially if you run Limewire with file sharing turned on. Then you can expect a RIAA lawsuit heading your way.
I have had the same thing happen to me.I was on win98 and got a new laptop with Vista .Vista blocks you so you can't use limewire. My son has XP and he had no problem till he downloaded the new updates for XP .After that he couldn't run limewire. My suggestion if you want to still download music is bit torrant .If you are interested send me a private message and I will explain how to use bit torrant.
