Hell, back in the late 60's (that is 1960, SA ! ! !), gas could be bought for 14.9 cents per gallon during "gas price wars"(remember that phenomona??) in the DFW, Texas area.
I remember gas war's on route 66 year was about 1966 I think, I was just a kid but we went to Missouri and remember that the gas war's made it so some places you could get gas for less than a dime a gallon.
You had to wait in long lines but wow, the good old days!
And you got a Coca Cola glass free with a fill up!

In 1965 I would put $5.00 worth in my gas tank, and drive all week.Now it cost that much to drive to the station!
