The opposite of pragmatism and can you be both.

I consider myself a pragmatic person most of the time. But there are times when I believe I am the dreamer. Is it possible to be both?

Yes, but not simultaneously. Alternately.

Charles, we all need dreams. They are what keeps the soul alive. And not every dream needs to be a goal. Some are just for the pleasure of the dream.

Well, I would echo Marti: not simultaneously . . . unless, of course, you're one of those multitaskers.

You can be a pragmatist, you can be a dreamer, either, neither or both. I think it is even possible to day dream pragmatically. Both is my vote.

Yes, you can and must be both. We all start out with a dream or idea. Then we must be pragmatic in order to make our dreams come true.

Certainly can be both - I am! The pragmatist, a practical person, much of the time but a dreamer at heart. I don't think many people are so one dimensional.
