Spring in the Field

Spreading her arms wide
she lay flat on the grassy hillside
looking up at the sky on this night
she would hold in her bones forever.
Freshly turned soil in the neighboring
corn field smelled so sweet on the warm breeze
she could almost taste it.
And sinking into the scent of it, she felt
the pull of life on the edge of planting,
the pull of death so rich and dark,
and the aching tremble of knowing both
as surely as she knew her name.

As Pulling is described, so we readers are pulled to your fine poem's inevitable, satisfying conclusion.

Artfully skilled. Eloquent sensory imagery. I was completely encapsulated and I hope to hold this moment’s revelation ’in my bones forever‘.

"the aching tremble of knowing both"... that line, that thought, shot through me
Beautiful and so real

This was lovely, on the edge of planting, wonderfully turned phrase. Excellent work!
