No they don't because they are violent and may start a nuclear holocost ending the world.
They got nuclear information from the White House President ? to help with utility power source for people's benefit. However the idea of power has made life hell for sooo many people!
But we are violent too. Extremely violent. We are a very grave threat to the world. If I were a nation, I'd want to be armed in case the U.S. decided to pick on me.
I agree with mamma.
We have always had nucks. We are always telling other countries what to do and we are always threatening them if they don't want to do what we say. We are not always right and we don't seem to care. Do As We Say, Not As We Do!!!
If we want other countries to listen to us, we have to be ready to listen and talk to them reasonably. It is not reasonable to have these weapons and tell other countries to get rid of theirs. I would be very afraid.
We want to go into other countries to look for WMDs, who looks for ours?
Notice how when Bush gave his "axis of evil" speech, he singled out Iran, Iraq and North Korea. We lied about Iraq having WMD and nuclear weapons. Of the three, as it turned out, Iran and N. Korea were the ones hat either had nuclear weapons or were farther along to having them.
So what we did was basically send a message to the world that, the deterrent to the US attacking unprovoked as it did to Iraq, is to have nuclear weapons. So we unwittingly made the best case possible for nations to have them.
That was the tragedy of the Iraq war. What moral authority we had, if any at all, was obliterated when we attacked Iraq unprovoked. Now we have no claim to any authority as a world leader in regards to nucledar proliferation.
Oh boy, this is what I have been saying for years. What makes us so special..we can have weapons but they can't? It's so untrue that they are violent and we are not. We are one of the most violent of countries. Just look at our history. More wars in such a short history, and now we go out looking for them. I think if we demand others to do away with nukes, we should also have to. Everyone should. The guy that first split the atom must be rolling in his grave with the crap going on these days.
I agree that if we are going to ask other countries to disarm we should be willing to do so ourselves. If we are going to ask other countries to allow inspections, we should be willing to submit to them ourselves. And, if we want to maintain our sovereignty we need to have more respect for the sovereignty of others. When did we develop the notion that we are omnipotent?
A fascinating "fun fact" is that Switzerland, (one of my favorite places in the world) is one of the most neutral and peace loving places in the world. However, every Swiss citizen has a gun. Their government looks at it as a liberal right for it's citizens to own guns. I find it highly interesting and certainly informative to get outside our typical US mindset and look at the press, the ethos and the governing and lifestyles of other nations and cultures, in order to have a better grasp on our own. It seems to me that some cultures are more "grown up" if you will, than ours. Swiss citizens can own guns freely without blowing each others heads off. We cannot. Sad..
If the Swiss people are so "peace loving" why is it necessary for any or all of them to own guns?
Unless used for hunting animals that are cooked for food.....guns are used to kill other people. If someone says they have them to protect their life and family, that means if there is a perceived threat to those things, they will use guns to kill.
JMHO, but in a truly peace loving nation, no one would have guns, nor need them.
Tzu, I don't think they own guns because they have to protect themselves from their own people. I think if the history of the Swiss culture and government is explored it can shed a lot of light on this subject. I believe that owning guns for the Swiss, is based on a liberal principle for them. Perhaps it is so they feel they have some safety and security at their disposal should they be attacked by another country or army of some sort. As the cliche goes, "It takes all kinds to make up the world."
If I'm correct, didn't it started out with the Pilgrims arrived here with guns? If the history books are corrected, did the Indians have gunsor didn't they? When our Missionaries went to different countries to teach others the right way to live, as they seen it, Not as many of the countries safely were suriving quite well without them and their way of living. were we behind many countries changing their style of living for the actions of americans trying to keep the wars, and made certain that smany change or were puzzled in their religion beliefs?
Now History is not one of forte far from it. However, we as americans has ways tried to be the first to keep our land free from wars when it came to other countries, yet we bear arms and give ita title as long as it's inthe hands of certain people. If it gets into the hand of others it's another story. I will come clearer, Black on black up to this point Ok if they harm each other in their home on the streets or in public areas, White on white, it can go to court and stay there for a period of time, White on blacks, the same if it was black on black. Black on Whate, No stopping to prison for life you will go.
No, i hate guns, but I try to place my self very carefully and try to keep out of harms way. Now days, We all are in harms way, here on our soil, or on other soils. My feelings are,Very Strick Rules for EVERY STATE. Make it hard to get anything to even make a wooden gun, missile, rockets etc.
How would we keep our country safe w/ those countries that aimed to the most Powerful country, We aren't powerful as we thing we are.
