See No Evil
Okay, I have to admit it. For the first time in a long , long, time, I was nervous about something that would never have previously made me feel that way.
I live in a subdivision that has a Home Owners Association.
This Association hires people to cut the grass and take care of the grounds appearance. Normally they have don okay, but recently, they have started to take short cuts in getting it done. Unfortunately, that short cut has affected me. They have started to dump the grass which is cut for the main areas, over the ditch back, because it is easier and cheaper than hauling I away. I t is quite illegal to do this, as some of the grass will fall into the water and plug the ditches up, but on a more personal scale, they are dumping their grass right behind my back yard. IT has been dumped there since the beginning of the grass cutting season, and it is starting to stink.
Now please understand me, because I want t make it very clear that I am not a prejudiced person, and my complaint about this grass dumping would apply to anyone that was doing the same. When I called the HOA, they asked if I could take a picture of the person who was doing it, because they wanted to make sure that they did not accuse someone who was not the guilty person. I would not want to do so either.
The problem made me nervous today, however, because the HOA had asked that I take a picture of the person who was doing that, which I did. I carefully chose my minute , but as I was snapping the shot, the person saw me. Having the picture, I quickly ducked inside, as I wanted no confrontation with this man. I have tried in the past to talk with the workers of this company, and they do not speak a word of English. I cannot say for sure, but in the area I live, there are many illegal's that are working. IT has been a real problem here, and even with their repeated raids to find them, they are still unable to do so. AS I looked at this man, I cold tell, that he was of Mexican heritage, and because he looked bewildered and angry, I couldn't help but wonder if it had been so smart of me to take the picture.
I felt very uncomfortable long after his truck had left. With the screws tightening down regarding aliens, and people coming into our country with little respect for our laws, I couldn't help but wonder how far he would go to preserve his job, and his being here. I have to say, that I was shaken, and did my rethinking after the fact.
How many Americans are being put in compromising positions? This gave me something to think about!
Now this may not be a big issue to some, but it is to me, and I find myself angry with the people who are hiring these people. IT is not a good situation for either side. Do I now have to be a watchdog, to get the things done that are minor things, and worse yet, do I have to put myself in a compromising position, to protect my rights and our laws? Sound OFF and tell me what you think. This
s day has not been fun, and I hope the ramifications of what were done today are not taken further. Are my fears unfounded or should I not worry? Regardless, the grass is still where he dumped it, and I am not taking any further pictures. Even more, what is it with the HOA that they scream so loudly if you do not pay their fee, and yet they do not seem to try too hard to correct the problems of the homeowners.
