Personally to me, that would be fine, the "contact" is what we really want, and what do you have to say to someone you do not yet know?
But if you sent a letter, and a card that would be great.
Thank you for joining, and for caring. If you would please send me a PM with your "real" name, I will let the adoption Manager know that your application will be coming in.
Blessings,
Debbie
You know, you can send post cards of your area, so they see where you live, a care package a few times a year is what helps, if you can't shop for them, we have them all ready to go, you can have one sent in your name to your Soldier.
I believe in sending "happy news" from your area, events happening, anything that gives them something to think about other than where they are and what they must go through.
So if you feel it isn't for you, then we understand, sometimes it just isn't what suits everyone.
But I always write and manage to fill up a letter and/or card with some tidbit of info to share with them. You have to remember they are so far from home, that any news from anywhere, on the positive side is what they love to hear.
I as a State leader (ohio, Ky, MO and Iowa) do not write twice a month, I make sure that it's at least once a month, plus I send a monthly care package, so to me he/she is getting both from me and that's 2 mailings, so I think the suggestion is great to write twice a month but if it's once I think that's fine, just the contact is what they need.
Karen
Karen, do you mean twice/once a month, or twice/once a week?
The RRU web site has under RESPONSIBILITIES, "Letters and cards should be sent 2x's a week until you hear from your pen pal." Does that mean when we hear back from them we should drop back to only monthly?
