Trivia
His selection for an Honorary Oscar angered many in the filmmaking community on account of his being among the first to cooperate with the House UnAmerican Activities Committee in 1952, which led to the blacklisting that ruined many careers in Hollywood because of their political beliefs, and that Kazan had publicly stated that he had no regrets for that action. In response, there were loud protests against his selection for the award and many attendees of the awards ceremony itself stayed in their seats and refused to applaud when he received the award. For his part, Kazan quickly received the Oscar and left the stage with only a few thanks in response to the hostility.
Directed 21 different actors in Oscar-nominated performances: James Dunn, Celeste Holm, Gregory Peck, Dorothy McGuire, Anne Revere, Jeanne Crain, Ethel Barrymore, Ethel Waters, Karl Malden, Vivien Leigh, Kim Hunter, Marlon Brando, Anthony Quinn, Eva Marie Saint, Lee J. Cobb, Rod Steiger, Jo Van Fleet, James Dean, Carroll Baker, Mildred Dunnock and Natalie Wood. Dunn, Holm, Malden, Leigh, Hunter, Quinn, Brando, Saint and Van Fleet all won Oscars for their performances in one of Kazans movies.

Vladimir Putin set to bait US with nuclear aid for
How long will it take before folks realize that there is a lot of truth to the age-old saying that violence begets violence? With it now obvious that there was U.S. complicity in the war in Georgia, it does not take a genius to realize that this mess could get real ugly.
With Russia angry over U.S. efforts to expand Nato eastwards, they now are thinking of a few responses, one of which is increasing nuclear assistance to Iran.
Said a western diplomat: “After the war in Georgia it’s difficult to imagine relations between Russia and America getting worse, Russia giving greater nuclear assistance to the Iranians would do the trick– that’s for sure.”

Dancing
I started a social dance class Friday. Because there were a few more women than men in there the guys had to rotate quite frequently so that all the ladies would have a partner. I dance with guys from 20 to 60. Some of the ladies didn't like having to share their man. Some of the younger ones didn't like having to be with the older ones. In social settings- does it bother you to "share" your partner or do you wish them to stay by your side?

Beauty of a Sunday
Hanna has come and gone. Not much as tropical storms go. We've had worse Nor'eastern's. But we are very thankful she was so tame. Looks like even our beach was spared, while the waves where high, there doesn't seem to be to much erosion. But will have to take another look at low tide.
Hope every one has a great day
