Mittens

Photobucket

Made my first ever mitten this afternoon. The pattern is called "Two Hour Mitten" and it only took me about 2 hours to complete 1 mitten, don't know if that's good or bad. LOL!

It is an easy pattern, the mitten is made in one piece and then you sew up the sides and thumb. Not sure though if I like the cuff that was added after sewing up the mitten. It doesn't seem to stretch very well over the hands when you're putting it on. Think for the next pair that I make I will try just extending the length of the mitten pattern for the cuff.

Mitten #2

Here's the second mitten I made today with some changes. I extended the cuff (slip stitch) and also did the same (slip stitch) on the thumb. I think this looks a little better and seems to fit on the hand & thumb better.

So now I'll take apart the first one and make it like the second mitten.

Think I'll try that myself. small projects like these aren't so hard to work with in the hot summer. They'll make great gifts for friends up north!

I hit send too soon - I have made only one mitten in my life. I didn't care for the way it turned out so I put it aside and it is probably still here somewhere. LOL

Sandy - the pattern is out under our Crochet Files - it's called "Easy Adult Mittens".

Good job! Looks easy, may try it myself.

Second one does look better. Did you put the adjustments with the pattern?

Fingerless gloves: I've never tried them. Has anyone else? They look like they would be warm to wear.
