The healthcare plan of an idiot.

Here's what McCain plans to do to your healthcare...

DEREGULATE so that the insurance companies can build larger monopolies, INTERSTATE. This is his first proposal.

Give every "family" a 5000.00 tax break so that they can BUY from the increasingly powerful insurance companies. This won't help the poor much, if any.

And how does he propose to pay for it?

John McCain would pay for his health plan with major reductions to Medicare and Medicaid, a top aide said, in a move that independent analysts estimate could result in cuts of $1.3 trillion over 10 years to the government programs.

The Republican presidential nominee has said little about the proposed cuts, but they are needed to keep his health-care plan "budget neutral," as he has promised. The McCain campaign hasn't given a specific figure for the cuts, but didn't dispute the analysts' estimate.

In the months since Sen. McCain introduced his health plan, statements made by his campaign have implied that the new tax credits he is proposing to help Americans buy health insurance would be paid for with other tax increases.

But Douglas Holtz-Eakin, Sen. McCain's senior policy adviser, said Sunday that the campaign has always planned to fund the tax credits, in part, with savings from Medicare and Medicaid. Those government health-care programs serve seniors, poor families and the disabled. Medicare spending for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30 is estimated at $457.5 billion.

So, when healthcare gets more expensive, he cuts Medicare and Medicaid, the poor, who may not even be paying 5000.00 in taxes get their "tax credit"... just how does this add up?

It DOESN'T!

You should be very afraid of this man "fixing" the healthcare problems.

NEW....POLITICAL POINT of VIEW

PLEASE READ the whole message before replying....

This thread started out as an experiment and it worked for awhile the way it was but because of the ability to STICK a post to the top, it has become more prominent and thus, gives a feel for the tenor of the group. With that in mind, I'm going to make a change and name what's not acceptable.

With the political season upon us and the resulting passion or disgust it seems to create, I'm mandating that any PARTISAN political discussion, cartoons or jokes be posted in THIS thread ONLY. What's no longer acceptable is name calling or disrespect for another person's views. I will be using the DELETE when necessary and if there's a blatant disregard for this policy, my actions may be more permanent. As usual, the rest of the rules do apply....no porn, etc.

Question of the week of October 6th

We have all accomplished many things in our lives. Some of us have overcome some great obstacles and can look back and feel pride about them. There are even everyday things that we can recall with pride. Thinking back over your life, please tell us all something that causes you to feel that pride. There may be more than one thing so tell us as many as you wish.

If the country goes under......

will any of us be on this Internet? I kind of think that will be one of the first things to go. I would rather eat then do with out. I will miss all, but it sure is making me nervous. Hope they come up with something that really works. I see China and Iran and Venezuela in on this. Almost like sabatoge....oil, foods, goods.
ANyone else that?

Palin Politics are disgusting

What is wrong with her, she is bringing up in a very ugly manner, a vague association of Obamas with a former radical, and now she has brought up reverend Wright again. Is she nuts? Look at the video of her and her pastor . Please. Reverend Wright looks intelligent and sane in comparison.
As for the Ayers stuff, it is repulsive to me that she says he "pals around" with terrorists. Bizarre. They only barely know eachother . And Ayers is now a respected member of the Chicago community anyway. When he was the so called radical, Obama was 8 years old!
What can we do to shut her up. She is allowed to lie like this, and no one can stop her? I want to sue her for liable on behalf of the democratic party. If I get any more furious with her I will explode.
