DAR

I am so excited. I finally found a Will of my ggggGrandfather of 1826 that ties in my last needed connection for becoming a member of the DAR. It is something I have been working on for 8 years so it is a wonderful find. Besides Wills are great fun to read and I gathered some more ancestors listed I did not know about.
Right now my granddaughters aren't that interested but maybe someday???

Are they college age? DAR has marvelous scholarships for the relatives of members, I hear.

My gg aunt's application to the DAR was what got me started on genealogy. A wonderful source. I don't belong, but at least the paperwork is if anyone wants to in the future.

Thanks so much for the reminder about the college scholarships. I will have to check on that.

WOW & Congrats!!!!
I'm a little jealous too....searched so long myself for that one tie and BINGO, finally found it last year...but whoops...seems we fought on the British side. For some strange reason, it makes me ineligible...LOL.
Again, congrats & you go girl!

CONGRATS

The DAR has helped me on two branches of my family tree. The Dickerson and the Avery line had several soldiers in the war. A great source. They want let me join. LOL
